I posted this weekend.  My surgery was sposta be 2 days ago at 7am at United.
I got a call late Friday afternoon, while I was at my hospital orientation.  My surgery up and cancelled my surgery!  He read in my medical records I had a Crohns Disease lesion in my colon.  Long story short....my Internest has called him several times to talk to him and get it straightened out.  She says I have NO symptoms of Crohns and believes there is NO reason to cancel me.

So, I am SO stressed and now sick.  I am so worried that he wont reconsider since she says I am symptom free and she believes its just mild ulceratice colitis.  I know I can go elsewhere, I may need to do that.

My request is just for whoever reads this to take 10 seconds, close your eyes and say a short prayer, or make a wish that Dr. Rupp changes his mind and allows me the surgery I have waited 5 months for!

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to help!!!  Theres power in numbers!!!!!

I made my wish for you and its going to work! I know he'll change his mind. I read on someones blog on this site (not the MN forum) that they had Crohns and could not get the RNY because their surgeon also felt it was dangerous. BUT, you don't have Crohns so you'll be fine. He just needs reassurance from your doctor that you don't have it.

I think worse case scenario, he asks for a few more tests to be done to satisfy himself you don't have Crohns rather than taking your word for it. Even if you did have it, which you don't, you could still get a lap band, which lots of people have a lot of success with. Its still a bummer cause you should be two days post-op at this point, but its just a minor set back and you will get there.

At least now you know your surgeon is cautious and diligent so even though its a pain the ass right now, you can rest a little easier when he does do the surgery.

I do hear what you are saying and I understand.  I do see it from his point of view.
I have read ALL of my medical reports and the exact verbiage was " 20 cm lesion is suggestive of Crohns Disease".  It was from the pathologist.  My Drs diagnosis is clearly written "mild proctitis".

I am so depressed and upset.  5 months waiting, testing, doing anything and everything they ask.  I have been so cheated on this deal.

I've read about the lap band.  I dont feel it will do anything for me.  Im just not really interested in it at all.  Sad but true.

Thanks for the nice words,

Cat
