WOW moment!!
I have been diligently working out the last month and increasing the length and intensity of my workout as I go. I typically do My Fitness Coach on the Wii and absolutely love it! I can choose from cardio or strength training (core, lower body or upper body), yoga and flexibility.
The program has advanced me into doing some ab exercises that I would NEVER have even DREAMT of doing when I was bigger.
For instance, I can now do the leg raise (where you lie down, lift your legs and then lower them half way while keeping your abs tight). My abs are actually strong enough to sustain me through it!! Before, my abs would just give out.
I can also do arm exercise...such as push ups!! Before there was NO way I could lift my body up.. I was TOO heavy and TOO weak.
It's just an amazing feeling to have that kind of control over my body. It's so empowering!!

Isn't it great?
I have been doing a 3 cd Pilates series and I know before surgery I absolutely had to do the modified part like you mentioned.. where I just put my legs in a 90 degree angle and really didn't engage my abs... Now I can do the exercise you mentioned above too and keep my legs at that 45 degree angle to work them.. and it's a work in progress.. but you're sooo right.. Its amazing to have control over what I eat and how I work my body again.... Yay for us huh?
