Getting Close

Day nine of my liquid diet today.  Wow!  I can't believe it.  I sure am ready to move on.  It's been ok, pretty easy, but I'm tired a lot and sick of sweet shakes.  I still like them and drink them.   I had a meltdown yesterday - just felt crappy and crabby and wanted to crawl into bed and stay there and I hated it that I couldn't!  Being a baby.

Today is better - still feel emotional and up and down, but not so drastically.  I know I can keep this liquid diet up a few more days.  I'm already down 11 pounds!

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY!  Working on the next 25.  Then I'll tackle more...

I hope you and Michael can make it to coffee so that we can give you a real good send off before your surgery!!

We are planning to be there.  Hopefully, it will be a good morning.  Today is good.  Yesterday... my oh my.  Near tears all day.  Wondering if surgery is a good idea, even!

YAY YOU!   11 pounds in 9 days?  (Anyone wanna take bets on how much she's down by the time her LD is over??)

YOU CAN DO IT, MARY!!   But I do hear ya on the sweet shakes.   UGH!!!  I bought the Unjury chicken broth, and it was a GODSEND when I couldn't comprehend yet another protein shake!  It's a freaky deeky science experiement if you mess with the temperature, tho - but a nice SAVORY break from the shakes!

Or you might try straining the broth from some chicken noodle soup - liquids are liquids!

It is so normal to get freaked out before surgery.  I cried on the way to the hospital to have surgery.  My husband was praying and I was crying, and I did eventually get some peace.  It's just such a huge change, and it's normal to be worried.  I can say I'd do it again in a heartbeat, though.  My life is a billion times better now than it was before surgery.  There are lots and lots of struggles after surgery - physical, emotional, spiritual, mental - but if I had it all to do over again, I'd do it.  I'll keep you in my prayers as you get ready for your surgery.

Mary,
I'm a frequent lurker and am now almost 6 mos. out.  I went through all sorts of emotions before and very huge "rollercoasters" after.  Read my blogs....long, but honest.  I know we all come from different places in our lives, but all have a similar goal.  Frankly, at the beginning, I just wanted to get through the surgery safely.  Then, I started dealing with the difficult first month of life changes (OMG what did I do?), emotions and finally accepting.  By 6 wks out, I was anxious to get back to work and life without RNY in the forefront.  I went through major buyers remorse.  BUT....I now am at the stage of "Why didn't I do this years ago?"!!  I've been very fortunate and have not had any major complications.  I've only gotten sick once months ago.  I still have trouble getting in all required fluids, protein and vitamins, but I'm improving all the time.  I felt there was a tremendous amount of pressure put on me (us) at he beginning to be perfect and get everything  right immediately and I really struggled with that.  I now believe, for me, I needed to know it was okay to not be perfect and to "layer on" new habits and requirements.  I do stick to the rules pretty closely.  Most importantly, I feel so much better!!  I still have a ways to go, but the almost daily WOW moments keep me going.  I'm sorry this went on so long, but I remember what a dark place I was in at the beginning and how hard it was.  So, from what I read of your postings, you seem like a pretty positive and supportive person to others.  Hopefully, we can be just as supportive to you when you need it.  Good luck to you next week.  I'll be thinking of you.
