I have had problems tonight with seeing black spots, couldn't even read my son's book to him....

I took my Blood pressure, it was 102/55......My BP is normally 118/75.....

Any idea's why I'm seeing black spots????  What would bring this on????  Is my BP low????

I ate well today,   B- Bannana
                            L- 1/2 chicken wrap
                            D- Taco, 1/2 apple
                            60oz. water

Any idea's would be appreciated.....kelly

Hey, Kelly!
I'm still pretty new post-op, but I've been pretty dehydrated lately and my BP has been around where yours is.  It has NEVER been that low pre-op.  Pre-op normal for me was what your usual normal is.  I'm going in for IV fluids twice a week because I'm only able to get in 30-40 ounces a day.  My WLS clinic told me I need to be getting in 64 oz minimum, and to aim for at least 80.  So, based on my experience, is it possible you might be a bit dehydrated?  I would try upping your fluids a bit if you can- it certainly can't hurt!  Just my 2 cents.  Good luck, I hope you figure it out soon and are back to normal!

I didn't see black spots but I was getting light headed and fell on my ass. My BP was 100/54 and my Dr took me off one of my meds and it is back up to a more normal range the light headed feeling is gone and I'm not as tired at the end of the day either.

Thanks for responding, I will try to up my water intake and see if that helps.....

It's weird at 20 months out to have something new going on......

Kelly, I would make a call to my PCP and see what they say.

Your eyes are nothing to mess with.

Just my thought.

A few years back this happened to me... I went immediately to the eye doctor and was told I have "floaters."

Floaters are chunks of protein that your eye cannot break down.  They are opaque, not black, but your eye sees them as dark spots.  It is much worse when I look at a white wall, or a book.

This happens to a lot of people as they get older according to my eye doctor and is nothing to worry about unless you have pain associated with it.

Over the years I have gotten so used to them that I don't see them any more.  There really isn't anything they can do for them I guess...

Hopefully that's all it is - and nothing more serious.  I would get into your eye doc to confirm if you are really nervous about it.  Good Luck!

Dr. Benn gave me an incredible tool.. and I intend to make the most out of it!!

I'm with the "go see your doctor" crowd.  You don't want to assume that any medical/health issues are related to your WLS, you just never know WHAT could be going on.  Upping the fluids is never a bad idea, but you really should take the safe route and make sure it's not something more serious.
