abnormal EKG
So I had my pre-op history & physical today. two days before my surgery, because for some reason my PCP's office had no available appointments until now (believe me I tried)
Everything was normal except my EKG. Mr PCP is sending me for an Echo stress test tomorrow. I asked if I would need to take any medication for it, she said yes, "some medicine to stress your heart a little"...I then asked if it would be oral medication or IV medicine, she said IV.
Then I look at the order and it says echo without contrast. So I wonder if she ordered the right test?
I have been trying to call the office for 2 hours to get clarification but the DR hasn't had time to call me back. She did however have time to bemoan the new computer system that means she see's less patients(which means less money)...
I hate having to do all this kind of work when I am already stressed. I did tell her I'd had a previous EKG about 18 months-2 years ago at her office (I was having chest pains but they told me just anxiety)...she went off to check and said that THAT EKG was ALSO abnormal!!!!!!
WHAT????
Why didnt they tell me it was abnormal at the time?
This sucks.
I think my surgery will be resceduled.

If that happens, just realize that there's good reason for it.
I know, once we decide that this surgery is our answer, we want it done yesterday. But you don't want to muck with your health - and if there is a heart issue that needs to be addressed, better to do it now than have something go wrong on the table.
You're approved. WLS will happen. Just trust your doctors enough to NOT put you in danger if there's any chance you could be.

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Hang in there.. I agree with Darla. The doctors are trying to keep you safe. Even though it is discouraging to potentially have your date moved - better safe than sorry.
Try to be patient. You will feel a lot better going into this big surgery with a clear bill of health!
Best wishes to you!
