Keep me in your prayers
As some of you already know via facebook my husband lost his job VERY unexpectly on Tuesday. We have been worried the past month about the very real posibility of me losing my job due to the economy. We did think at all that he was in jeopardy. He's handling it fairly well so far he is pretty sad about it but he is also looking at it as a sign to change careers. A few months ago I don't think he would have been so emotional stable to be positive about this situation.
Now on Monday I find out the fate of my job. I really have no idea what is going to happen part of me thinks I'm safe because I have specialized knowledge no one else on my team has but then again who knows. I'm very nervous about this because if Iose my job we are going to be without health insurance and there is no way wecan afford the cobra and all our bills with us both on unemployement.
I'm having a real hard time focusing and trying to just get things done at work and home because I'm so anxious about what is going to happen next week.

Wow, Kathy, so very sorry you are going through such hard breaks right now. If you can just take one step at a time, answers will come. You are certainly in my prayers and thoughts today!

Kathy:
Of course you are in my prayers. With regard to anxiety about your job, you know that whatever the outcome is, you will still have your improved health, a kind soul and a husband who loves you. What I am trying to say is that, no matter what happens, you already have the strength and courage to survive and thrive in a new way.

Kathy,
I feel your anxiety! I'm a stay at home mom of 3 little ones and my husband was layed off in April of '08. At that time I thought I was going to loose it, it was very stressful! It seems though everytime we got low on money or started to get into financial troubles something would come up. It's amazing how things have a way of working themselves out. Hang in there and remember there are tons of people who are in the same boat! We will all get through this. Have a good day and good luck on Monday!

Kathy - just try to keep your thoughts as positive as you can. I know, it is not easy. I was laid off last November and am still home, by choice though. But during that initial few months after the layoff, it was an emotional rollercoaster, that's for sure. And it was unexpected as well. The biggest thing that helped was getting around people that cared about me. If your hubby has any friends or family close by, perhaps he can go to lunch with one of them once a week or something like that. Find a volunteer position to keep his mind from wandering. Just suggestions of a few things I did to keep from letting the depression rear it's ugly head in the beginning.
Things do always seem to work out, though, if you just keep the faith.
Will definitely pray for you and your husband as well.

You will be in my thoughts as Monday approaches. My husband was laid off in early May and has not found anything in his field. When he was laid off he was carrying our health insurance and COBRA was offered. We opted to go onto my employer's plan but I did learn that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 provides for COBRA premium reductions. Eligible people pay only something like 30-40% of the normal COBRA premium. The Dept. of Labor's website has further information. www.dol.gov/ebsa/cobra.html
