Oh my
My surgeon approved me to eat all foods except meats this past Monday. He said that we're allowed pasta, so I decided to have a couple of bites. That was 10:30pm yesterday. Almost instantly I started feeling pukey. I stopped eating (after about 5 bites). I took a phenergan (anti-nausea drug) to hopefully stop it in time but didn't work. I started puking about 11pm and it lasted for 3 1/2 hours. OMG it was horrible. I wish to never go through that again. I finally got to sleep about 4.
Lesson learned - no more mac & cheese. It's evil.

Please spay and neuter your pets!

OUCH. Yeah, mac and cheese will lose its excitement REALLY fast after WLS. lol
I have had a little pasta but I never want to go back to mac & cheese.. its empty calories, carbs, and no protein. I don't want to go back to rice either.. same deal. The pasta i had was home made mac n cheese made with cottage cheese & cheese.. so it did have some protein in it. But I could only eat a few bites and it just tasted greasy and I sat there thinking why am I even eating this? I didn't feel that great after eating it either..
Alot of people can tolerate pasta and rice, but nutritionally its a big waste of space for us...
Also a note on getting the pukes from food... most of the time if you get the pukes from food, anti-nausea drugs are probably not going to help... its a physical reaction to eating the wrong food, or too fast, etc etc etc... It's just going to happen. Ya it sucks (blows literally ha ha!) but at the same time I don't try to stop it because my pouch is doing what its supposed to do, so I just let it do its thing. I usually have to wait an hour or so before I try drinking anything after I have the pukes
