Hey Troy,

Having weight loss surgery of any kind is a tool to help you shed the excess weight.  I can assure that you will feel full when eating an appropriate amount of food.  But, you need to work your program everyday for the rest of your life.  I am a little over a year out and natural hunger does return, but if you are working your tool, as some say, you will be successful.  The thing I always think about when making food decisions is that I really love how I feel at 225 rather than when I was at 409.  Nothing tastes as good as this feels!  Cliche I know, but it is so true.  It is natural to be feeling the way you are right now.  Past failures are haunting you.  Been there!  RNY gave me the opportunity to lose 190 lbs.  I make the daily decision to keep it off by choices I make.  Simple as that.  Best of luck to you and keep that date!!!  You WON"T regret it!

Thanks for the help. I cant wait for DEC.18. I want so bad to go to a water slide and not feel angry and sad and angry! (working on the anger thing) only mad at my situation and my bad choices not life. I bet you do feel great! amazing how our bodies could operate at the high weights. good luck to you and thanks again.

You will feel full.. I can tell you that for sure. If you overeat, your pouch kicks your ass and lets you know it!

My recent example... I posted about it. Before RNY I could plow down food like no tomorrow.. And last weekend a friend of mine and myself ordered a pizza. Before RNY I could have eaten a whole pizza by myself... it was another WOW moment when I ate once piece (a triangle) and was absolutely stuffed! And I had only eaten the topping and the crispy thin crust edge... not the whole crust... and my RNY stopped me dead in my tracks.. because I was full...

Natural hunger does return.. but my sister is 3 years out and still has her pouch working hard for her.. thats the whole point of this tool... we learn over time what foods and portions are healthy for us..  and its a tool that allows us time to adopt these lifestyle changes so we can continue them even when our bodies adjust and we no longer have the same sugar and food limitations that we did in the beginning.  I conciously make healthy food decisions every day.. and don't get me wrong, I blow a meal here or there or eat something I shouldn't be..  everyone does... but when you do it you just need to pick it back up and start working hard again...

We're all here to help you along your journey, and you should get hooked up with a support group if you can. That is KEY!

Good luck!

Stacy

We all fear failure - mostly because we've all failed at diets before.  Multiple times!  But the deal is, this is NOT a diet.  This is a whole new relationship with food!  And it's good in some ways, frustrating in others.  You will no longer be able to numb your emotional issues with food, so you have to learn to cope in different ways, too.

But as someone who is almost 2 years and 5 months out, I will tell you it is possible you will not regain a sense of hunger.  I suspect I'm in the minority, but I have YET to feel physical hunger the way I used to.   Now, if I don't feed myself at reasonable times?  I get a little weak, maybe a little shakey....  but not that pain in the pit if my stomach kind of hunger.

Yes, I forget to eat.  Used to think that took a special kinda stupid - but it's true.  Just use your tool to the absolute BEST of your ability, get your new habits firmly ingrained in your brain, and trust that it will spank you when you screw up!
