discouraged
I had my bypass on Aug 7 and up until now have been losing at a rapid rate. Today I went to see the dietician and in two weeks have only lost 3 lbs. (total weight loss so far 44 lbs) She told me that I am not getting enough protein in my diet and that I need to continue my protein shakes for about 6 months until I can actually eat the recommended amount of protein in. She said without enough protein that my body is starving and will cease with much weight loss. I understand this but can't help feeling very disappointed and like a failure again !! I am going to do what she requested. I just wondered if this has happened to anyone else and how do you not feel like you are a failure again !
It sounds like you are doing good, a 44 pounds weight loss since August 7th, that's awesome! It does sounds like you need more protein though. I wouldn't get discouraged, just take her advice and try getting all your protein in and get a little exercise a day. Congrats & Keep up the good work!

"On the lighter side" Everyone and anyone welcome!
I am from Denton, Texas. I moved to MN a year ago. I just had my surgery Aug. 7 so I have not been on the TX board yet.
Thanks for reminding me that plateaus are my body's way of catching it's breath. It really makes much more sence when I think about it. After failing at weight loss for so many years I just want to be as successful at this as I can. I need to quit being so hard on myself. I am doing the right things and I just need to be patient. :)

Did you go from a lapband to the bypass? I saw that it said revision under you pic. I had the revision also. I had the lapband done in TX but it only worked for about 3 months. It completely opened up. Because I had pd cash for that surgery I did not have another 15grand for them to go back in . When I moved here (my insurance paid this time) my Dr. went in to close the band but it broke so he did the bypass. I was quite happy about that.
Repeat this, one of our favorite mantras - IF YOU'RE NOT LOSING POUNDS, YOU'RE LOSING INCHES.
Pay close attention to how your clothes fit. Even when the scale isn't moving, your body is adjusting to it's new, lighter self, and snugging up all over the place. It's like decending a staircase, NOT going down a smooth slide. Just keep working your tool the way you know you should, and it'll do you proud!

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Almost everyone goes through stalls... Especially women!! So don't feel alone. Even when I go through a stall, which I do, I lose inches.. sometimes I notice inches lost faster during stalls, even if that sounds backwards!
Don't get disappointed in yourself.. you still lose inches even when the #'s on the scale don't move. Stay motivated.. increase protein, increase water, get up and walk or move any way you can to get that body working at losing #'s again!
