Wow, this side of the bench is awesome
Hey everyone! I've been hibernating (from the boards) since my successful surgery a week and a half ago. Nothing intentional, just focused on this stage of my journey's success and the impending first day of school.
The surgery went off without a hitch, as best I can tell. My pain is better described as discomfort as I have had no true pain--nothing debilitating, nothing which has caused me to wince.
Since the day of surgery I have followed the prescribed plans to the letter and to the advice and counsel of so many of you. Sip, walk (repeat). When I'm not sleeping I'm up moving and sipping. Also, my friend Linda gave me a great descriptor for my full liquid stage: "if it can run off a spoon, you can eat it." In particular, I have found miso soup (Japanese) a great clear liquid with lots of available soy protein to be a great staple throughout the day. Greek yogurt with blended and strained raspberries. And broccoli soup (from the box/can) have been among my favorites.
This Wednesday is my second post-op follow-up and I look forward to continuing to see the successful outcomes.
I'm down 20 pounds so far.
Thanks to everyone for your great help prior to, during and following my surgery. I am so happy to continue on towards a remaining lifetime of health, activity and optimism.

Great to hear how easy your journey has been so far and that you're finding things you can eat, and enjoy. Plus the 20 pounds already gone. Can't ask for more than that! I'll be interested to hear what other creative food ideas you come up with. SO many struggle early out, I'm sure you can help some pre ops by sharing some of the foods you enjoyed in the full liquid / soft stages. Keep up the great work. Am excited to see the shrinking new you.

Wow! This is great to hear. Thanks for sharing, it's so encouraging, when fear is starting to creep in.
You are doing great. I plan to follow the same advice when I have mine the end of the month!
