I need help was approved by insurance for RNY and I am afraid that I will not make it thru THe 2 week pre-op liquid diet without cheating. I feel I need some support to make it . Is there anyone who has had this same problem.

Yep - just hang in there.  Most of us have done it.  I'll be doing it starting on Sept. 23 for two weeks, too!

I did optifast - total liquids - for five months in 1988.  did another round a couple of years ago for 3 months.  You can make 2 weeks.  The first two days are hardest ones for most people, then your body accepts it!

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY!  Working on the next 25.  Then I'll tackle more...

You CAN do it!!!
This is important....don't cheat...you will only be cheating yourself.
This is being done to shrink your liver. That is necessary for the doctor to do this surgery safely.
If you can't do this how do you think you will follow the rules after surgery....there are plenty!!
DON'T give in!!!
Sorry to rant...I don't mean this in a bad way. I am just concerned. This is just my personal opinion.

I really do wish you the very best!!

Hugs....connie d

Connie (and everyone else) is right... you can do this!  It is hard, no doubt about it.  I just kept telling myself that it is something I have to do.  Honestly, the liquid pre-op diet has been the hardest thing (eating-wise) about this whole process for me so far.  Yeah, you're back to liquids after the surgery, but you're not really hungry.  I did the liquid diet for 10 days (and was on vacation for a whole week of it) and I lost almost 9 pounds.  Just admit to yourself that it is hard, that it sucks, and then accept it.  YOU CAN DO THIS.

It's all perspective, and I'm sure plenty of people here are tired of mine - but try to look at it this way.

Your eating plan, your relationship with food, will NEVER be clearer, and therefore EASIER, than it is on the liquid diet!  Never before, and never again after you are reintroduced to food.  TAKE ADVANTAGE of it!  Embrace it!  If you can drink it, you're probably fine.  If you have to chew?  You are breaking the rules (exceptions being SF popsicles, etc...).

Make up your mind to ROCK the liquid diet!  You will give your weight loss a MAJOR kick start, you will make your guts a MUCH safer place for your surgeon to navigate, and you'll have your mindset in the right place!

You CAN do it!!!

Don't worry... just set your mind to it and write out a list of all the reasons that you are doing this. The liquid diet was great for me... it really brought me a lot of clarify... kind of like meditating, lol

You can and will do it. When I have to do something I count it backwards. So in stead of oh my gosh I have two weeks of this.. I think Ok.. 14 days.. one down 13 to go! I never count 1, 2, 3..... That is just torture

Good Luck
