Constipated... "we" think.. I hope that's all

So starting on Fri 21st I had this really weird left sided discomfort.. its at about my belly button height on my left side but its sort of closer to my belly button off and on. I called the WLS office on Fri and the RN talked to my surgeon after getting my symptoms.. Dr Schwartz said he's thinking its constipation (or bad gas) and to take some M of M and poo... So I upped water on Saturday and got moving... nothing.. Sun am I took M o M and all day.. nothing.. things seemed to bubbling and gargling.. but nothing happened.. This morning (Monday) I poo'd but I strained and it was only a little bit and it was very hard. WHHHHAAA...

Today I am at work and I feel stuffed up and the left sided discomfort is still lingering.. so I called the WLS office again and his RN made me an appointment for Wed afternoon to see my surgeon.. she wants to rule out any problems and have him do an exam.. said 3+ days to feel like this isn't normal.. but not to worry too much.. So I feel a bit better. She said to up the water and take some more M of M if I want to in the meantime.. She does not want me taking anything other than M of M incase something is going on.  If it gets worse or intensifies or turns to pain (which its not) to call them right away.. page the on call bariatric surgeon at the office, and head to the ER...  I hope it's nothing serious but now I'm all paranoid its a blockage or something.. whaa....

Good luck - I hope it feels better AND soon!  We have the same doctor.

Boy, I sure hope you get relief soon.  Not fun.

Are you having your surgery at Abbott or St Joes?

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. A few times, too. Your body is still in shock. So in my completely uneducated medical experience, I say not to worry too much. If you are blocked, it will be painful. And if by Wednesday afternoon things are better, then just cancel the appt. Or go if you feel more comfortable.

Remember - we don't eat as much anymore. So our output is much less.

Good luck!

Good luck this afternoon.  Hope it's nothing serious. Being stopped up  is horribly uncomfortable!

About a month after I started my calcium and iron regimine regularly I suffered from the "oh god I need to poo" but got nothing.  The gassy discomfort was horrendous!!   I did a little research and bought some Miralax but also bought some prunes since I hated the idea of taking more "medicines" than necessary.  I usually nibble/suck on about 3-4 prunes per day and I have found that to really help out in the constipation area of things.  I have not had the hard, difficult to pass stool ever since.

I did notice that I had big gas problems and intestinal discomfort when I chewed gum (of the 2 times I did it - you know, just to see )  oh wow it sucked.  My guts were so talkative and active that I was up all night from discomfort.

I hope it resolves itself or that they can figure out what's up.

BY THE WAY - I have my 3 month visit on Friday at 9:30am/10am.  I should stop by!!
