Reflux issues?? x-post
I'll be calling the surgeon's office on Monday morning, but really wanted to know if anyone else has had similar experiences. I am having a lot of what I can only call reflux. It seems like nothing really goes down very well and seems to come back up to the bottom of my throat. I had surgery on Tuesday (8/18) and came home on Thursday. I did clear liquids until this morning, when I really felt I need to get something in my pouch that may settle the acidity I've been feeling. I had 2 ounces of sugar free pudding and it honestly did seem to help. I had asked the nurse on Friday about what to take and she told me to take Maalox. It does help, but that burning/reflux feeling comes back. I haven't been able to get in a lot of fluids, but I honestly am trying. I also feel like I have a lot of phlegm that I am always swallowing back down.
Anyone have any advice?!?!? I'm also not sleeping well. I haven't slept through the night since the night before my surgery. I'm up anywhere from 2 to 4 hours in the middle of the night. Obviously, I am exhausted.

Well, I broke down and called the surgeon's answering service this morning. I was up from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. I can't take it anymore. The on call doc assured me that it is just swelling and that it will go away, I just need to deal with it. He wasn't overly helpful, obviously. At least I know nothing is seriously wrong. The thing I worry about is that he isn't one of the surgeons who does the bariatric procedures at the clinic. But, I wouldn't imagine he'd give me information he didn't feel was factual. I'm taking small amounts of liquid and drinking while sitting upright (seriously, who lays down to drink?!?!?!) as he suggested as well.
So, hopefully this will just resolve itself soon. I'd still be interested in hearing more from anyone else who had this issue.
