WOW moment at 6am!

I was getting my coffee with morning at Caribou and I had my first "second look" wow moment. Last year before I had surgery I used to go to the same Caribou and Brueggers Bagel shop every single day...they knew my first name and my orders by heart! Well since then I have moved to a different building so I don't really go there anymore. I went there this morning and the manager guy totally took a second look at me. Like he looked like he recognized me, but maybe wasn't sure. When he took my order he was "Rose?...Wow you have lost a little weight huh?" I said "yeah just a little". He was really surprised at how different I look.

It is moments like this that make me realize that 130 pounds is A LOT of weight to have lost, I mean come on it is a whole person! I think I don't always notice it myself and the people I am around on a daily basis don't really notice the weight either (which is ok with me). It is moments like this that make me take a second look at myself and realize that "yeah Rose you have lost a lot of weight" I think because I am still plus size, it isn't as noticable, but maybe that is just me.

This reminds me of a high school reunion I went to last month. I wasn't sure how people would react or even notice that I looked different. Well to my surprise they did! I had lots of comments and even some people that didn't recognize me (keep in mind I look totally different than I did in HS shorter hair, glasses, cuter!) And I got lots of men hitting on me (which was for sure a first), but it felt good. Don't worry my husband has NOTHING to worry about!

Anyway, just had to share these little WOW moments that really make feel good and makes me realize just how much progress I have made!

Congratulations on your awesome accomplishment.  To have the validation gives us a chance to take a second look at what we've achieved.  How fun to have so many of those moments.  I know it gives me a boost to keep going and refocus on what I have done and what I still need to do.  Enjoy your time in the spotlight!

It is a fantastic feeling to have someone do a double take or look at you and not look away immediately.  It can be a bit disconcerting, too, when you are not used to it.  It was great to hear that you had a WOW to start your day.
