Hi everyone,
I have been lurking around here and checking things out. I have stated the process of WLS. I have Health Partners insurance. I have to go thru their classes which are called, "Call to Changes. Has anyone ever gone thru these classes? If so, how long did they take?

Thanks bunches.

I think there are a total of five phone calls (one per week) that last from 15-25 minutes.  It's a piece of cake and better than having to go into the doctor's office like others have to do.  Good luck on your journey!  I have surgery on Mon.!!

OH Thank goodness. I was thinking once per month and I am not sure I wanted to wait that long. So I can not get an answer on this but.... my understanding is that the surgery is already approved if they call you about the classes. I have indeed talked to Health Partners a lot and this is what I get out of the conversations. I have never gotten a straight yes or not from them

No, your surgeon's office will still need to submit a Prior Authorization with all your info. and you could be denied.  My bmi is 41 and I have no health issues but was still approved the first time so I think HP is pretty lenient or I have a nice reviewer.  :o)  What doctor are you seeing?  I'm going to Fairview Southdale and have Dr. Benn.

I actually am going to a hospital in Marshfield, wi. My insurance is thru my employer in Minnesota. I live in Eau Claire but since this surgery is regional and I don't live in the neighboring Wis/Minn counties I can go where I want to go. They do semm lenient don't they. BMI is 42, I have asthma, and pre diabetic 116 blood sugar. I had ACL repair 13 years ago which has led to a futuer knee replacement by the time I am 55 if I don't do something now.
I asked about health partners on the MN site because nobody in WI has Health Partners where I am going.

Which surgery are you planning to have? Band, RNY, DS, VSG?? That may make a difference on your approval, but even if you're denied initially, appeals are a wonderful thing!
