I am officially 23 hours without a cigarette!  Hooray!  My surgeon wants me smoke free for 4 months prior to surgery.  I have smoked for 15 years.  I never thought I would be able to quit!  If I can do this, I can do anything!    I suppose I should include that I am using Chantix.  It has been amazing for me.

That really is an incredible accomplishment.  You're on your way to taking care of yourself and reaching the goals that you've set for yourself.  The road isn't easy but it sure is rewarding.  I'm glad to know that Chantix has helped.  My boyfriend is wanting to quit and has thought to us it.  Congratulations!

Congratulations!!  Quitting smoking was the HARDEST thing I ever did!  It's now been 15 years and I feel great.  Keep up the good work - it's more than worth it!

I also used Chantix to quit my 20 year smoking habit. It will be 2 years smoke-free on the 20th of August.

Good luck to you, I know that quitting with Chantix really helped me, I hope it works as well for you too.

I am SO on the same page...although I quit on Sunday the 9th.  It's been a crazy week but I feel great!  I keep thinking that this is a test to prove that I can put myself in situations where others are doing things (like smoking or eating) that I will have to deal with post surgery as well.  I had quit once for 5 years, but other than that it's been at least 10 years since then and this time feels so much different.  It feels like a true test to my will power and I know if I can do this then I will be able to deal with everything post surgery as well!

Good luck and please feel free to sent me a message if you are in a tough spot...I'll do my best to help you though it!

I know exactly where you are coming from.  Everytime I want to have a cigarette I just think that I am pushing my surgery further and further away.  It definitely helps!  It's nice to know that I am not alone.  Thanks.

Congratulations!!
Quitting smoking is a HUGE step!!  I have been told by many former smokers that the best thing about quitting is their sense of smell and taste being enhanced.  Definitely a good thing for post-op!  You can do it!!!
