Update on my health issues

Well called my doctor yesterday to try to schedule an unfill of my abdomin (would be 3rd time) And she said instead to double both diuretics.  I am so sick and tired of people asking when I am due.  NOT PREGNANT!!!!!!! I will try to deal with this for the next couple days and if I get no relief....off to the emergency room and screw what my seemingly non caring doctor says.

Jess-

Do they know what is causing your abdomen to fill up?  How long has this been happening to you?  How much have they drained previously?   Have diuretics worked in the past, or is this something your doctor hopes will work?  Are you having a great deal of pain?

Yes, there is a reason I am asking these questions.

OK- yes I do have a diagnosis of Lupoid Hepitis (I have Lupus and it is attacking/killing my liver)  I have been drained 2 times, perecenteces and each time they got 6 liters of fluid.  The swelling of the abdomen has been going on for 2 months now, they don't know about the liver because I was on prednisone for many years for Lupus and they think that was keeping it at bay.  The Lasiks works VERY well but seems to just be draining fluid from my legs and feet, not my abdomin.  The spironalactone really doesn't work.  The doctor wants to see if this will work, she said if I lose a pound a day it  is working.  Keep in mind I am holding at least 20 lbs of fluid.

OOPS forgot one of your questions.  I am feeling some pain.  It is a tightness and no pressure can be put on my belly.  This problem also caused a hernia above my belly button that is about 2-3 inches which hurts.  They won't touch the hernia for now due to the fact my blood is not clotting fast enough so surgery of any kind is dangerous.  They want the clotting time at 1.2, mine is 1.4.

so sorry that it continues for you Jess-and if I were you, I would be mad, too-I hope that they come up with something other than just removing the fluid-are they talking at all about a liver transplant?  keep fighting, girl-
hugs,

I am not sure on the liver transplant yet as I have no gotten the results of my byopsy.  But to me it looks like thats a good possiblity.  UGGGGGGGGGG.  I have actually lost 10 lbs in the last 2 days from the extra diuretics.  But am looking way to skinny on mylimbs.  I am going to try to make it to w.st.paul coffee on sat, hope your there.
