Old timer needs advice

So, I have not been on here FOREVER - but I need some help!  I had my RNY 6.5 yrs ago now, and still 145 and am a size 8-10.  I've finally decided that I want to have a lower body lift.   Does anyone have any doctor recommendations?  I would greatly appreciate any help or insight anyone may have!

Thanks,
~ Andrea

Hi Andrea -

I went to Dr. Michael Fasching in Plymouth.  He's amazing!

I would recommend him to anyone!  My before and after pictures are on my profile.

If you have any other questions, let me know!!

Thanks for the info.  Can you tell me what the recovery is like?  Also, does a body lift help with the butt & thighs at all?

The recovery wasn't as bad as you would think considering the cut goes all the way around the body.  I was off work for 3 weeks.  When I went back to work, I still had the 2 drains in, but they were easy to camouflage since it was January.  Although it's different for everyone, the hardest part for me was sleeping on my back.  I never had a lot of pain, but quite a bit of discomfort from the incision line and just general soreness.  Believe me, it wasn't a piece of cake, but I got a lot of reading done, and since it was over Christmas, I got out of cooking and cleaning, etc!

If you've had children, it's kind of like that.  It's painful at the time, but in a really short while, you've forgotten about the bad stuff and REALLY appreciate the fruits of your labor!  I would do it again in a minute.

Of course, every body is different, but when I went in to the Dr. I expected to get a tummy tuck.  He told me he would do whatever I wished, but he showed me what he could do with a LBL.  A TT would have made my tummy flat, but I still would have had a muffin top in back and a saggy butt.  The LBL also lifted my butt, and tightened the tops of my thighs somewhat.  Of course it didn't help the inner thighs.  One of the best things was my "girlie parts" were kind of flappy, and after the LBL, I was nice and tight again because that area gets pulled tight.

The only things that are a little bothersome are that my butt crack is higher and the hair in my mons area is also higher so it's a little more work.  But, believe me, a small price to pay!

Dr. Fasching will be completely honest about what he can and can't do and what can you expect.

Good luck!

I second the recommendation for Dr. Fasching.  I had a lower body lift (cut all the way around and up the front) and breast lift (no implants) done by him (at the same time) back in 2004.  Everything is still tight and up where they belong!  He knows what he's doing.  I was treated very well by him and his staff.

Lori -

When did the numbness and tightness go away for you, or did it?   Did you ever have the phantom itches?

The numbness doesn't bother me, but the feeling of swelling/tightness gets annoying sometimes.

Thanks!

BJ, thanks for the info.  I'm a little bit scared, but think I am at least going to schedule a consult.

Thanks,
~ Andrea

P.S.   How long does numbness, swelling, & tightness last...or how long do "they" say it's supposed to last?

I'm still a bit numb in spots on my back.  Nerves take forever to heal - if they ever do.  Still have some tightness back there too at times which is annoying and strange, but it beats having to stuff my gut into my pants!  What I'm amazed about is how much my scars have faded.  The ones on my breasts are nearly non-existent.

Would love to get an inner thigh lift - but just haven't wanted it bad enough I guess!

And I know what you mean about your butt crack being higher....weird eh?
