Embarassing!

I feel so bloated!  I don't eat nearly as much food as I used to, but i feel like my stomach sticks out a mile!  I have been so much more gassy than I have pre surgery.  I am guessing cause the gas has to go somewhere, and it doesn't come up through a burp.  Any suggestions or help with excess gas, or the bloating?!  Sometimes the gas is so bad, and I am not in the best place to...relieve myself...I hold it and get HORRIBLE gas pains!  Any suggestions would be great!  Thanks

I know what you mean Brian, although I am only one week out!

I take the chewable gas-x...it seems to be working well!

Hey Brian,

The Gas-x is a good recommendation - however just thought I'd mention if you are taking Benefiber, it might be the culprit.  It's great for most folks, but it nearly caused me to blow the roof off.  Work was a challenge back in those days....running to the bathroom, vs burying it in the cube chair and praying no one would come and visit!  Once I quit that and replaced it with Citracel, I was back to "normal" so to speak.  I don't know what you're eating at this point, just thought I'd mention it in case it could be the problem.

Good luck!

The first couple of months after surgery were quite explosive around here. Now things are pretty much normal just an occasional bout once in a while now so I keep the Gasx gel caps on hand for those times and it works just fine. It's pretty bad when you sound like an old evinrude going across a lake.

hehehe...   Gas-X works for me when it's causing me discomfort.  But I prefer to alleviate it - uh... "naturally" whenever possible.

Remember folks, its always better out than in...so fart away.  I think its funny if someone looks at you cuz you let one fly...ummm like they don't do it?? If it hurts in...by all means let it out.

words of wisdom aye??  :)

You know...my gas always comes out in a burp! :( I'll be talking and it'll just gurgle it's way up my throat and out my mouth. It's pretty embarrassing.

My stomach makes all kinds of groans and moans and gurgles pretty much all the time lol But they always come out as burps.

Brian:

I try to get in at least 20 grams of fiber every day to keep me, um, regular.  I have accepted the fact that I will be excessively gassy as a result of making that choice.  My advice to you is to practice your stealth farting skills.  It doesn't always work....sometimes people will know that you farted, but at least you will feel better.

Yeah, I remember hearing that gas got worse, but never in a million years did I believe it would be as bad as it was/is.  Keep a can of febreeze close by when at work, or even at home.  Pay attention t what you are putting into your body, cause certain foods digest differently and cause worse smells than others.  I used a ton of gasX and Devrom for the first year.  Thankfully, I have finally regained some of my ability to burp, which I generally just do no matter where I am, cause otherwise it has to come out the other way and that is so much worse for me and others.  My toots still smell like death, but I am learning what foods are worse than others.  It will take time, but it will likely get better.  Also, I don't have to use fiber boosting products anymore, and that seems to have made a difference.  pooping gets easier, too.
