Training for a 5K
Hi everyone.....
I'm going to start training for a 5K tomorrow with some wonderful friends, the 5K is in October. Any helpful tips from those of you that have done one?
While on my bike ride this weekend I mapped out the 3 miles, OMG......Right now I can only run a couple blocks, maybe, the tar road seems to bother my OLD hips....This will be interesting.....
I've NEVER in my life done this.....I'm so excited, but nervous at the same time......
Thanks in advance, Kelly

Hi Kelly,
I just started to gear up to run a 5k. like you I have not done anything like this, but feel compelled to get this accomplished. I did run off the "couch potato to 5K" program. Seems relatively simple. I can now run one mile without stopping ~ I walk rest of the route.
I am registered for one in Sept. - where are you running yours in Oct. Maybe that would be more of a realistic goal?

We are offering a free training program on Wed evenings at 6pm up till our race Sept 27th. They are held at the Women's Club Mpls. Check out www.womenrunthecities.com for details. They have speakers like doctors and trainers monthly too.
Good luck!! I can't run....at all!!
