HELP!!! I need friends!

I just got my lap band surgery scheduled today (8/6/09)!! I recently joined this website and am still trying to figure stuff out. But I need friends!! I want to support them and they can support me; we can share stories and use each other for information!! I work in Hudson and live in New Richmond. Yes I know I don't live in MN but it's hard to find people from WI when you live so close to the twin cities! This is scary I don’t have anyone close to me that has had the lap band surgery!!

Welcome fellow Wisconsinite... I am also from Wisconsin and in the 3rd month of a 6th month insurance required supervised diet and I am having a RNY hopefully in October.  You will find a lot of support here on this site.  Also there have been some coffee's (good support) in River Falls.  There used to be one in Osceola but that one sorta fizzled out.  I go to the Maple Grove one and absolutely recommend getting to as many as you can before AND after.  Good luck.

I am also pursuing lap band surgery.  My 6-month supervised diet will be completed at the beginning of November, and I'm hopeful to have surgery in December.  So our time frames won't be too terribly far off from each other.

Your profile shows that you have Dr. Jones.  He's a Park Nicollet surgeon, right?  If so, then we have that in common, too.  I'm also a Park Nicollet patient.

Congratulations on getting your date! You are so right - I think great support has been very important and has helped me succeed. I go to a good support group at Abbott (2nd Monday of every month) and we have some great groups through Unity Hospital. I know it would be a drive for you, but a bunch of us with the band also meet every Sunday evening in Coon Rapids. If you want more info, let me know. Ask any questions you might have - the more you know before you start, the better off you'll be.

hi!  There are a few western WI'ers here.  We sometimes do coffee in RF, and could rotate through  Hudson, or NR or whereever if there was interest.

I try and go to West St Paul or Rosevilleon Saturdays , so if you wanna carpool let me know.
