2 dietitian visits left
I had a busy day at Park Nicollet on Tuesday. I met with the Physical Therapist, the bariatrician, the psychologist and the dietitian. I found out that my blood pressure and pulse go really high even just after the 6 minute walk. All my cholesterol levels were high, and I'm deficient in Vitamin D. I have to take a prescription dose of the Vit D. My EKG was abnormal, but they said that it could be something that was there since birth, but it's nothing that will hold me back from surgery. I got a lot of good information from the physical therapist and the dietitian, now I just have to apply it to my life!
I do have to meet twice more with the dietitian, next is July 21 and then again in August. My BMI is over 40, but they don't consider GERD a co-morbidity, so I have to have extra nutrition visits. I'm glad though, because I could use the extra information to help make the changes before surgery. All the better, I think!
After the next two dietitian visits, then they submit my infomation to the insurance company. Provided that gets approved, I'll meet with the doctor and schedule surgery. I'm hoping to have my surgery done sometime in October. Does that sound like about the right timeframe from where I am now?
Has anyone here had Medica insurance? How were they for your process??
Thanks

Stacy,
I'm not on the same insurance as you but I did have to complete 6 months of supervised nut. visits (7 visits total) It appears we are on the same time frame. I have my June appt. on Monday, my July appt. on the 29th and then I'll have one more in Aug. I assume it will probably be Oct. before surgery is scheduled provided everything goes smoothly!
Anyway just thought I'd let you know you're not alone! I've enjoyed the 6 months as well. I feel way more prepared than if I hadn't gone through it.
Good luck and may the time fly for us both!

Hi Stacy,
I had a very similar day at Park Nicollet on Thursday. It was almost overwhelming, to meet with the nutritionist, physical therapist, and psychologist. I'm still trying to process all of the info they gave me.
I have three nutrionist appointments to go, then I'll be asking the clinic to submit for insurance authorization. It still sounds like a long time to wait, but then I stop and think about the appointments/hurdles I've already cleared.
I agree with you completely, I think that the dieticians there are great! I wasn't looking forward to my first dietician appointment, but afterword, I couldn't wait for my next one.
