Kidney stones...gallstones...hummmm
Went to the ER today with horrible pain, kinda thought it was my appendix, kinda thought it had something to do with surgery. Turns out I am passing a kidney stone...OUCH! And, the doc happened to notice a gallstone as well. Ugh. I am going to pass the kidney stone, but looks like i need to follow up with a couple docs....I am 2 months post op and down about 30lbs, so I don't believe it is weight loss related...we will see what the docs have to say...very frusterating! I've been so stressed lately, not happy that this is happening now...ugh
Hi Brian - When I was 6 weeks out I passed my first Kidney Stone.......NOT FUN!! For me at that point I had begun taking my calcium supplements but I was not getting in enough fluids....that equals calcium deposits in my kidneys in the form of stones. Not saying that is true for you but that is what happened to me. As far as the gall stones.....any weight loss can trigger issues with your gall bladder. And honestly 30 lbs in 2 months is an awesome loss.......when is the last time you averaged 3.7 pounds lost per week. Keep your head up as this too will pass. You are doing an awesome job.

I hope you feel better quickly. Kidney stones are no fun! My doc put my on Allopurinol pre-operatively because I have a hx of kidney stones. He explained after surg you will have an initial increase in uric acid and other components that may cause certain types of kidney stones. Allegedly these levels will eventually taper and normalize.
Be well!
