Feeling great one week post op!! (Missed all of you!)
Hey peeps! I'm down 20 freeking pounds from my consult weigh in!!!
I've missed all of you so much!
To make a long story short.. Wiring issues in my new place after I moved put a crimp in my online adventures here @ OH and elsewhere... So today they FINALLY got me up and working...
I am doing Super Duper Freekin Fantastic!!! My incisions are healing well.. a bit sore yesterday but I think I overdid it.. I ran to my grama's and to the mall quick.. I haven't taken my pain meds since last Friday night.. Liquid Tylenol rapid release works great for the achey incisions.. My stomach muscles finally feel back to normal today. You guys didn't lie when you said liquid in liquid out!!! I eating yogurt, cottage cheese, broth, cream soups.. I did go and get some Isopure bottled drinks because I wasn't getting more than maybe 20 g of protein in... I bought some SF Carnation instant breakfast and I have had that first thing the last few mornings.. sip sip sip! Then I switch over to the Isopure the rest of the day.. That gets me to 53g protein.. Been up and about and walking the dog.
I cannot tell you how great of a surgeon Dr Schwartz is at Abbott. And the post-op care I got on the floor I was on (Go station 40!!) was AWESOME! I only felt some slight discomfort.. never any pain.. My surgery was bumped from 10:30 till almost 2.. I got to my room post op by about 6:30-7pm. Mom was there.. vaguely remember my aunt and uncle visiting. By 10pm or so I was already getting myself out of bed.. (unhooking the leg circulating blow up things, my pulsometer, and taking my dance partner IV pole with me to the bathroom. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the fact I wasn't cath'd and could pee on my own. I was deemed by the overnight nurses as their favorite patient because I was up and about and walking on my own, and I really only buzzed if I needed my pain meds a little sooner than expected or when I peed to check my output. I slept about 2 hrs at a time then went potty, then 2hrs again...
I've just felt really great. WLS office called me this morning to check in and see how I am doing. They were happy to hear my liquid and my protein intake. I'm still having some trouble getting my citracal + D down.. chopping them up is a real pain in the ass.. but I can't take them whole. I tried dissolving them in water or my "liquid" of choice and I dunno.. so I'm working on that. Still getting some in but not all 9 yet. I called Bariatric advantage and they are sending me some calcium citrate chewy bite samples...
Thank you to everyone who has supported me through this adventure! I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions and seek advice from you all once I get rolling further along on the food train.
Glad to be back finally!
