Started my 1st day of the 2 week liquid diet. It seems like something is missing (food, of course!) which is a very strange feeling to me. I had tomato soup w/milk for lunch and it tasted soooo good. Don't think I ever liked tomato as much as today!

Hey Lynn!  I just happen to check this site every once in a while.  And instead of posting on Facebook, I thought I'd post here.  Because there may be other newbies out there who could benefit from this as well.

This is just the beginning of a wonderful journey!  But don't be fooled.  The first three days are NOT EASY!  They are horrible!  Your body will start to detox from sugar, from solid foods, from food volume.  Don't underestimate what your body will do to you this week!  In fact, if you can get away and stay far away from any stress, I'd HIGHLY encourage it.  Because by tonight you will not be feeling up to doing much but b***ching.  Ok, at least that is the way it was for me.  I don't want to scare you.  I want to be realistic about it.  Once you get through this, the rest is a breeze.

This is tough.  You have already overcome the insurance hurdles.  YOU CAN DO IT!  Look at me!  I was 262 lbs.  I was lazy.  I almost gave up a few times.  During my first three days I wanted to quit every hour.  But I stuck with it.  I was able to take the weight off - losing almost 20 lbs before surgery.  I'm a year and a half out, down more than 130 lbs (I'm half the person I used to be), I have energy, I've had major life changes.  And you know what?  I don't regret ANY OF IT!  Not for one minute.  I can look in the mirror and actually believe what I see.

Lynn, I know you can do it!  This support board is a great source of support for you.  And even though I'm not on here often (mostly just lurking), I will be available to talk with or ask questions.  So feel free to email me or call me anytime.  I will send you a note on Facebook with my contact information.

You will soon be sitting on the loser's bench right next to me.  Keep your chin up!  You can do it!

Thought I'd share a different perspective on the LD.

I thought it was WONDERFUL!   Sure, every fast/junk food commercial ever produced started playing on every tv and radio station in town with alarming frequency, but none of that mattered.  I jumped through the hoops to get the surgery approved.  I was within spitting distance of my WLS, and NOTHING MATTERED MORE than doing it RIGHT!   I never had such clarity in my eating before - if I could drink it, it was pretty much okay!  If I had to chew?  It was NOT allowed.  I kept plenty of SlimFast, Boost, CIB, Unjury Chicken Broth, Crystal Light and SF popsicles on hand, and the time - and POUNDS - flew!  14 pounds in 10 days - AMAZING!

It doesn't have to be difficult, you don't have to turn into an uber-*****  You just have to have your mind in the right place.   And know that there are very good reasons for doing the LD!  It's not forever.  I always figured I can do ANYTHING if I know it won't be forever - including childbirth!  It's all in your attitude!!
