Which size clothes did you keep?

The last time I lost a large amount of weight, I basically kept all my sizes so I had clothes at the start of this journey from 24 down to 8 (and I think those from 10 years ago are a 6 these days---not gonna happen!)

So as I've lost weight this time, I've given away my clothes from 18-24. I have some size 16s in a bag and I'm out of most of my 14s an in some 12s.  I'm now about 22 lbs from my goal weight (the ultimate low fantasy goal weight).

I don't want to be like in the past where I dragged many bins of many sized clothes around with me for 10 years. But I don't want to get rid of anything I may need in the nearest future.

So I ask you if you are near or at your goal weight, or were and not any more, how many sizes of clothes did you save as a buffer, as a just in case?

Thanks!
Anna

I kept the jeans and sweatshirt I wore in the picture my hubby took the night before my surgery.

Everything else GOES once it's too big!  'cuz I've learned that wearing clothes that are too big - well, that's NOT a flattering look.  And I fully intend to never go back up - if my clothes ever start feeling snug, that's when I crack the whip and get back to WLS basics.  Been there, done that, never gonna go back again.

I had no problem getting rid of the biggest clothes. I just remembered I did keep a pair of underpants because if you hold my current ones up to the old ones, it's quite the visual of how far I've come.

I can't stand baggy clothes now.  I did throw on a pair of size 16 capris to wear to work yesterday and everyone said, "you have no butt." Well sure if the crotch is halfway down to my knees, it's probably going to look like I have no butt! I've worked hard to get here and I don't like hiding my progress under too-big clothes. I may not have a lot of money but I have the shopping skills to keep me in appropriate-size flattering clothes.  I always want to tell those people who say they aren't going to buy clothes til they are closer to their goal that we work far to hard (before and) after WLS to be wearing clothes several sizes too big.

Im with Darla...as soon as it got too big, I gave it away!!   I figured if I ever needed those larger sizes again it would only be because I didn't use my WLS properly & my "punishment" would be to rebuy larger sizes.

I'm not to goal yet, but I have been getting rid of clothes as they get too big.  I don't like the feel of baggy clothing anymore!  I want to wear properly fitting clothes that flatter the new shape.  Now, if only my bat-wing arms would let me wear the size 10 tops that fit everywhere else!

Anna - I'm with the others. As I've gone down in sizes, I've given the bigger clothes away. I just never, ever want to go back to them and if I start down that path, it better only be 1 size - not 10 or more - before I get back on track.

I did however keep my pre-surgery jeans (sz. 24) because I fully intend to get into one leg of those suckers one day and take a pic! But, that was the only thing I've kept.

I gave all of my size 30/32 and most of the 28/28 to Goodwill. And I say most because I kept a few pairs of pajama pants. They are uber comfy!

RIght now I'm in a 18/20. Life is good!
