Continuation of Depression post

Thank you all for posting on my last thread.....

I finally since Monday heard back from my OBGYN Doctors office, she's going to put me on Celexa????  My counselor mentioned Prozac, but my Doctor said she starts out with Celexa.......My depression is really bad at "That time of the month." Hopefully this helps...

I looked it up on WebMD, sounds okay.....Anyone ever been on this?

I've been on it for a while and its sounds like for what you want it would be a good choice.  It really keeps my moods balanced.  I personally perfer Zoloft because I have OCD and it helps with some of my obsessive thoughts but since surgery Zoloft upsets my stomach.  

I was on Celexa, Kelly. I had no side-effects from it, but found I had to increase the dosage every once in a while. Just be aware that it's okay to do that. I started at 20 mg and worked up to 30 mg. I had to cut pills in half because they only came in 20 mg pills and the pharmacy couldn't cut them.

So glad you're getting something to help you out. I know you're going to find some relief from this!

Remember, it does take a while to kick in (I think they say 2 - 4 weeks on average) so just know it may not be immediate relief, but it will come! And you'll be so relieved.

I've been on Celexa since 99' and i have had no side effects since. It will help you out greatly!

I have been on Celexa for over 5 years...works wonders for me!  My doc specifically put me on Celexa as it is one of the few depression meds that does not cause weight gain!  I appreciated his concern!

P.S.  I am the newbie you directed to the Maple Grove coffee last Sat....not many of us there, but they were very welcoming & I am glad to have gone!  Will see you at the next one!

I was so worried about weight gain with medicine, I'm so glad that this one doesn't do that....

I saw my pyschiatrist and he upped my prozac again. I'm on pretty high doses of Effexor and Prozac now but he is wondering how much I'm actually absorbing. He actually has me breaking up all my antidepressants into 4 doses (1 pill per dose) a day.
I'm hoping this works better for me.

I've never been on Celexa but I've had friends it's worked for well.  I hope it works for you!

I am currently using the generic of the celexa.  I have been on  it for about 2 years.  It works well as long as I remember to take it faithfully.  About 3 days of not taking it I can feel myself getting moody.  I took Prozac and didn't like it, I got headaches from it.  Also, took Wellbutrin.  I had a hard time sleeping when I was on it.  Wish you well with it!
