One week from today...

It's getting closer - one week from this moment, I should be in recovery. I had my pre-op physical this morning - all went well; assuming the chest x-ray is clean as well as labs. My PCP is my hero - if it weren't for him, I don't think this would be happening. He is the one that brought it up to me! Cheers to Dr. Foley! Did any of you have your doctor bring up WLS to you first?

Yup!  I was diabetic and my blood pressure was heading north, so I saw my PCP every 3 months.  He made a comment in July of '06 - "So - have you ever considered weight loss surgery?"   I looked at him and rolled my eyes... I'd had so frick'n many surgeries, the only way anyone was ever touching me with a scalpel was for an autopsy.

Saw him again in October, and again he said "So - have you ever considered weight loss surgery?"

I replied... "Well SHOULD I??"  And he proceeded to sell me on it.  I had the co-morbs, but was still in pretty good health, he was sure I'd be an excellent candidate for it.

Now he calls me his Rock Star, and hugs me every time I see him!  Which isn't NEARLY as often anymore, what with all previous health issues resolved

My Hero, my OB brought it up to me. I love her and was so happy that she talked to me about it. She also suggested Dr Pierce, who I went with and was very happy I did.

Relax NN, you'll be fine.  A new life is just a measly 168 hours from now.

That is fantastic!

Nope, my PCP was against WLS of any kind, so I got a new PCP because I needed one's support, especially for my appeal. And it was the best decision I made. Glad your PCP is supportive! That will help you in the long run with follow ups, too.

Best wishes next week!!
