What's your song for the day?
I didn't realize EVERYTHING had to deal with WLS on here......
No one HAS to post on any thread.........
I just recently came back to the boards after I took some time off to work on myself and my marriage. I didn't think throwing in a little fun here would hurt......
Sorry this bothered you.....I won't post it again....
Amy, hon, you know I love you - so please keep that in mind as I share my thoughts here.
First off, people responded to this post - obviously, it brought a smile to their face to think about whatever music moved them at that moment. Nothing wrong with that.
Second, there are PLENTY of posts that pop up here on a daily basis that are NOT WLS related. I've started many of them myself. No one is obligated to read or reply to any of them - as I often tell people, take what means something to you, leave the rest. One man's "trash" is another man's "treasure". I used to feel like I had to reply to every single thread on here - but I don't feel like that anymore. I read the ones that catch my eye, whether it be the "title" or the author that interests me. I reply if I have something valuable to say - whether I think it might be valuable to others, or just to me, to get it off my mind.
As for how this thread relates to WLS? Well, music is very therapeutic. Everyone has a song or seventeen that speaks to, touches or moves them. And if sharing those songs on a thread like this makes them happy? It's a good thing! If someone has never heard some of the songs listed here, and chooses to look 'em up, and hears something in that new song that speaks to them? That's a good thing, too!
WLS isn't just about nutrition, and numbers - on a scale or a measuring tape or a clothing label, it's about learning to feel good. It's about finding ways to look at life and cope with things without turning to food. I think music fits the bill perfectly.
So, on THAT note, one of MY favorite songs?
SWEET SURRENDER, by John Denver
Lost and alone on some forgotten highway
Travelled by many remembered by few
Lookin’ for something that I can believe in
Lookin’ for something that I’d like to do with my life
There’s nothin’ behind me and nothin’ that ties me
To somethin’ that might have been true yesterday
Tomorrow is open and right now it seems to be more
Than enough to just be there today
And I don’t know what the future is holdin’ in store
I don’t know where I’m goin’, I’m not sure where I’ve been
There’s a spirit that guides me, a light that shines for me
My life is worth the livin’, I don’t need to see the end
Sweet, sweet surrender
Live, live without care
Like a fish in the water
Like a bird in the air
Sweet, sweet surrender
Live, live without care
Like a fish in the water
Like a bird in the air
(repeat lyrics)
Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
I say you continue it Kelly.....I personally liked it...WLS related or not....I can think of many other post topics that are not related, but this board is for support, for everyone....
