I'm a little over a month out and the goal from my NUT is 50-60g a day.  I use protein drinks for about half (27g) and get the rest from my food, 1/4 c three meals a day.  I think at this point the protein drinks are your best option.  Which have you tried?  Have you talked to your NUT about this?

I can do this, I can do this, I can do this - AND SO CAN YOU!!

I would suggest trying to find regular foods that have higher protein since you are having a hard time with protein shakes. Or if you are a coffee drinker the click is really good that you can add to your coffee. I used to have the Instant Carnation Breakfast (No Sugar added) mixed in with milk and heated like a hot chocolate which has protien lots of protien between the CIB and the milk. I also had a lot of pudding, yogurt, and cottage cheese. It takes time to build it up.

Best wishes.
God Bless, Angela

Go in and see NUT on the 24th hoping to get more info on what to try then! Not a coffee drinker like pre-mixed protien drinks and stil trying to find some tasty protien bars!

Diane,

I'm 17 months out and I still don't get enough protein some days....

Here's some idea's: Tuna, it's so high in protein. about 30g. for a 6oz. can
Eggs are 7g. protein, I like to eat them hard boiled
                                Yogurt is 6-7g. usually
Fish, I like the Tilapia, high in protein
                                Shrimp or any seafood
                                Peanut butter
3oz. New whey Protein bullets 42g. protein
                                Turkey Tacos, burgers
Beans, although there is consequences :)

I HATED protein shakes too until I tried this kind, I use the Unjury Protein unflavored protein powder (1 scoop 20g.) 1/2 c. skim milk, 1 6oz. container yoplait yogurt like Strawberry, 1/2 c. frozen strawberries, this makes a great cold shake......And is about 29g. of protein.......

Hope this helps a little.....Good luck, Kelly

At 2 months out, I could not imagine eating a protein bar. I don't think it would have even sounded good to me. LOL I give you credit for trying.

Kelly listed some good foods. Be careful on that hard boiled egg, though. At 2 months out, you may find it too dry to tolerate. If you could ma**** up with a little mayo or mustard or something, then it may work better for you.

One thing I did & still do is I'll grill up some chicken or pork chops, etc. and keep them in the fridge. I'll cut them up in small pieces and just snack on them throughout the day. By the end of a day, you'll be amazed at how well you did!

Oooh - rotisserie chicken. Don't forget that delicious one!

Also, don't forget about cheese - glorious cheese! My current favorite is Ellsworth Farms cheese curds. Cub carries them in the gourmet cheese section. I put a few on a plate, pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds, and then let them sit for a minute or two. So good!

Have you looked at Eggface's blog? If not, check there. That wonderful woman is always posting yummy things and she's a RNY gal herself, so she knows a thing or two about how you should eat.

Hey, Diane!
If you are ever able to make it to a Trader Joe's, (they have them in St. Louis Park, Maple Grove, and Woodbury, and there's one opening in St. Paul) they have this wonderful selection of chicken sausages in really yummy flavors that have 17 grams of protein each.  I have stocked up my freezer for sure!  I am also SUPER picky with protein powders, but I have found an all-natural brand I really like called Biochem.  Their whey powders are so good, very mild, not too sweet, no aftertaste.  You can find them in the natural foods stores, which is where I bought my samples, but I liked them so much, I just ordered 4 different flavors- they're way cheaper ordering them online.  Hope this helps, good luck!  Feel free to PM me if you want any more help or suggestions!

Ok I'm not sure at 2 months out you are ready for this (my memory is foggy about what I ate when) but I like Turkey jerky it has lots of protein and little calories.  Just becareful of the sodium but at this point that shouldn't be too much of a problem.   I have never had a protein drink or protein bar and I really hate milk so I struggled getting protein in too.   I think I just did it by eating yogurt; eggs; cottage cheese, string cheese and my dinner was usually just meat (steak, pork, or turkey burger).

I really like the Tuna Creations. They are seasoned with different flavors. Yum
