A Day of Happy and Sad

Hi all,

I'm a newbie here and still in the process of things to have WLS. Yesterday was my consult with my surgeon and now I only have 3 nut. appointments and i can submit to insurance. It is nice to feel like this is moving along. Although I'm still looking at probably Sept. at the earliest for surgery I feel positive and the surgeon seem very positive and optimistic about doing the procedure on me and having great results! All in all the morning went wonderful.

Then the sad side, I get back to work and a co-worker gives me news that crushed me. I have been asking the owners of this company for a year and a half to move out of my current position and into something else. Instead of moving me they just give me something additional to do. I have multiple jobs but still doing the original job as well. (Little background, I work for a company that sells organic products) Well I was informed that it was discussed to move me to marketing department to assist in setting up new marketing strategies (which I'd love) and a comment was made that since we go to trade shows it would not be wise as I do not have the appearance of health. My co-worker stood up for me as they were discussing this in front of other employees and said "you're saying because she's heavier than others you don't want her in that position?" they of course tried to deny that but that is exactly what they are saying. I am so frustrated. If jobs weren't so scarce and hard to find I would be out of here! Argh!

So there it is, my happy and sad. I wi**** were September! lol

Thanks for letting me vent guys :)

That is awful discrimination!

Are you able to offer up to them that you are fully qualified for the position (as they seem to know) and that you are currently working on a healthier lifestyle and a weightloss plan? I wonder if that would motivate them to move you into that position.. if they know that in the short term you are making efforts.. thats the suck hole part of marketing. I've been in your shoes.. I was overlooked for a role in a previous clinic i worked at that would be part of promoting our services to other clients. After the fact, my boss (who is also plus size) came to me and spilled out she literally got up on her feet and told the owner bosses it was direct discrimination and how put off she was over it. THey didn't give a **** though, because they all have anorexic looking wives about half their age that just married them for their money. so you get the drift. its a sad world we live in.

I say fight for it girl! give them everything you've got. Show them that you can lead a healthy lifestyle.. even if you have to offer up taht you being worked up for weightloss surgery.. its sad but if its a job you love, it might be worth it!
