I saw Dr. Kelly last Wednesday for my final step in the pre approval process.

He said he was going to sent the authorization into my insurance company in the next few days, and of course the anxiety is killing me.

I know these things take time, but how long did it take for you to hear if you were approved or not?

I heard that HP is pretty good about approving the surgery if all the criteria is met, and I have met all the criteria.  I am just so nervous that something is going to go wrong.  Until I get the final ok from them I am going to be on pins and needles.

It did not take long for HP to respond to the request when my surgeon's office submitted it.  HP was my secondary insurance, though.  They do ask that you participate in several weeks of telephone education prior to surgery, though.  They are pretty pushy about it but I ended up doing very little of it.

I've already finished the first half of my phone courses from HP, and the rest are to be completed after surgery.

I did get a call from HP today saying they did receive my info from the surgeon, and they should have an answer in 1-3 days.

These 1-3 days are going to kill me!  I worry constantly about being denied.

It took two and a half weeks from my surgeon's appoinment until I received the call from the clinic.  I'm sure what day they actually submitted.

Congratulations on making it through the preliminary hoops.  You're really close now and the time will fly by!  Best of luck to you!

My approval took 10 business days from the date they said they faxed it. It took about 3 business days from then that HP had the claim in their system and they were actively working on the approval. I called about every 3rd day to check on the claim.

What is your Health Partners care type?  I have Health Partners also, and I'm just curious if they even will cover it.
