All my paperwork has been sent in

I'm fairly new to this message board...mostly a lurker.

I attended the informational meeting at Park Nicollet back on December 2nd and waited until this last week to finally turn in my paperwork.  I wanted to give it one last shot on my own and be sure that this is what I wanted.

I saw my endocrinologist last week.  I had thyroid cancer 7 years ago, when I was 21 years old.  I just wanted to make sure things were in check with that before I proceed with this weight loss adventure.  The doctor told me that maybe I wouldn't feel so tired if I would just lose weight...jeez, funny I never thought of that.  It sounds so easy.  I hope you can sense my sarcasm

I'm not sure what kind of a hurdle insurace will be.  According to what I read in my book it pretty much just says it has to be medically necessary.  My BMI is 40-41

Anyway, does anyone have any idea how long it takes to hear from the folks at PN?  Any prediction on how long...provided everything goes smoothly, this whole process will take?  Is it possible to have the surgery before the end of this year?

Thanks!

I went through PNC...   submitted my paperwork requesting the surgery on 1-17-07, had my surgery 4-27-07 - so just over 3 months.

The bigger factor will be your insurance, whether or not they have requirements of their own.  Some require a 6 month supervised diet.  Were you under a doctor's supervision since your December 2nd info session?  If so, you might already be covered there.  Some require a certain percentage of your weight be be lost beforehand.    Park Nic won't be your hold up, if you have one.

Whatever your requirements are, it'll be worth it in the end!  Don't lurk - jump right in and throw your questions at us!  That's one of the joys of this board, being able to help newer folks helps keep us "older" folks accountable!

WELCOME!!

Thanks for your response.  Actually, after I logged off here I received a call from PN.  I have appointments set up for next week to meet with the nurse, a doctor, lab work, and some computerized psychology test!  That was fast!

I have a primary doctor whom I see often.  I don't think it was considered "supervised"  We had discussed way back in September about me trying again to lose weight, I'm sure she documented that discussion, but I wasn't going in to her to be weighed or anything.

I just completed my second set of appointments with PN.  My insurance requires 6 months of  doctor nutrition visits.  So I won't be submitted until the end of September.  It is then in the hands of the insurance company to decide if I've met all they require.    I have my fingers crossed that I will be approved.   I also had to do a sleep study too, and I found out I have sleep apnea now to get the appointment for the machine.. whoohoo luck me!  *grins*

Good luck!!
