Start my 14 day liquid diet in the morning
Went to the Dr. for my Pre-op. I start my liquid diet in the morning. Hoping my sugars don't go too far out of wack. I am on 200 units of insulin now--suppose to cut back to less than 100 tommorrow. They told me to stick close to home--and have people around me just in case my sugars take a dive. Dr told me something kinda weird today. She told me that I can't eat potatoes, bread, pasta etc--because if I do it will ruin the rest of my pancreas and will need a transplant. I have about 15% left working of my pancreas. So, I thought that mashed potatoes were one of the mush food you can eat?

Best of luck with your liquid diet and upcoming surgery. Although mashed potatoes would have been the right consistancy to eat I chose to stick to protein as much as possible during those early weeks. I did not eat potatoes for several weeks. I think I have only had them once or twice sinc my surgery. You will find plenty of other things that you will be able to eat.
