Gallbladder question
In preparation for next Mondays surgery. I had my gallbladder ultra sounded today. It turns out I have 5 fairly good sized stones. So I get a 2 for 1 surgery, its gotta come out too. I know removal of the gallbladder during RNY is common. I am wondering however, how it effects recovery and pain level. Any one else had both at the same time that can fill me in on some info.
I think the recovery should be just fine... not any more than just the RNY itself. I had my gallbladder out recently... the recovery was much easier.
I have heard people answer both ways - that RNY was more painful or gallbladder removal was more painful. I had my gallbladder removed 5 years ago but had my RNY last week on the 27th. Both had the same amount of hospital time. My guess is that the recovery will be the same but you might have some extra tenderness since your stomach is closer to your left side and your gallbladder is up under your liver on your right side.
Might as well get 'em both at the same time and have to recover only once, right? :)
