Surgery is Tuesday! Any tips or advice?
Just wondering if anyone who had had surgery has any good ideas or advice for the day before, day of, etc. A lady at work today told me when i sit on the couch or lay in bed make sure i lay on a sheet and i can pull the bottom corners up to help me get up so I don't have to use my stomach muscles as much. I thought it was a great tip so maybe someone else has a few
I just had surgery Wednesday so I'll add my two cents.
Have someone at home to help you out - preferrably someone strong. I have my husband at my beck and call for the next 3-4 days and I can definitely tell you that you'll appreciate someone to give you a boost up.
Right now I'm sitting in my husband's chair since it's comfy and a little higher than the couch. Some people sleep in a recliner for a few nights when they get home. It depends on your comfort level. I'm kind of stubborn and my back hurt SO BADLY from the hospital bed that I slept in our bed last night with my cpap machine. It wasn't that bad. I haven't experienced the gas settling yet though.
Oh, and bring a pillow in the car for the ride home - best advice EVER. Our car ride was about 2 hours to get home (from Minneapolis to Mankato).

Oh, yeah, that is exciting!!! Wishing you a fabulous day on Tuesday.
Anna is right on the money! Bring a pillow from home. You'll appreciate this in the hospital as well as the car ride home. I hugged mine the whole way home, especially over bumps.
Are you having open or laparoscopic?
Bring your own chapstick and hand lotion. I hate being dry & those two things were wonderful to have. They were my own and reminded me of home. I was in for 5 days, so I also brought my iPod, which was a blessing to have when my roommate was puking!
Loose waistbanded pants or a loose knit dress to wear home would be good, too.
