What is your emotional goal?

The one goal for me that is really concrete has to do with my job and the limitations my weight placed on me in relation to it. I work at the Juvenile Detention Center and unfortunately, when deling with violent, angry, sometimes unbalanced kids who might as well be grown men, sometimes we have to restrain them and sometimes this includes wrestling them to the ground and cuffing them for safety. Right now I know I am veiwed, by myself and others, as more of a liability than an asset when we all consider who has our backs and how we would respond in an emergency. Speed of being able to run stairs to get there and being able to function with strength once you get there are very important.

Anyway, I want to get to a place where I know regardless of what any co-worker thinks of me personally, they believe that I will be able to have their back if the crap hits the fan. I also want to know that I can handle myself and run to a back-up call like a lot of my co-workers can.

I don't know if that seems trivial or narrow focussed or just judgemental but it is one of the things I have looked forward to since I decided to have the surgery. I guess it is about being respected and trusted at work like I have to trust that others will have my back.
