Hey Teresa! Welcome! Don't mind the quietness of the board (the good weather is to blame LOL).
I am your age and had the LapBand... it's a fantastic journey, no matter what WLS you've had.
I, too, have PCOS and the weight loss has really helped.
I know someone on here has had surgery at Mayo... maybe they'll reply when they get a break from being outdoors, lol :-)
Anyway, WELCOME and great to have you here! Feel free to PM me!
First appointment? Ask a TON of questions!!

Welcome Teresa,
Although we can't give medical advise, we have lots of personal experience here on the Minnesota Board. We are always welcoming newbies, we were all there once, so ask away!
We also meet for friendship and support frequently usually in the form of meeting for coffee,so watch the boards, please join us and don't be shy!

Welcome, Teresa. Yeah to all that's been said above -- keep a notebook handy and jot down questions as you think of them because when you get in to the doctor, you'll be excited and forget to ask. Nose around on the site -- other boards in addition to the MN one (although we're the best) and just see what others are saying/asking. You'll read things that you never even thought about. The great thing about these boards is that no one laughs at you for asking and there's a ton of good advice out there. Best wishes on you journey and hope to see more of you here.
Welcome and congrats on your decision! Don't be a stranger here - re-visiting the questions and thoughts we've all had (as post-ops) helps us to stay focused on OUR journey, so don't ever be afraid to ask, or think your questions are insignificant. As long as you're educating and empowering yourself, it's all good!

Hi Teresa. I have my date set for RNY at St. Mary's (Mayo Clinic). The date is August 12th. I started my doctor visits at Mayo back in February. My visits consisted of meeting w/endocrinologist, nutritionist, psychologist, sleep study and blood work. I met in April w/the endo and my surgeon. The paperwork was sent into my health insurance carrier and approved. I live out of state. The reason I chose Mayo...they are a Center of Excellence for bariatric surgery. My health carrier is BCBS Federal Plan. I am so excited to start my new life as a healthier person. Questions, let me know. Good Luck Kelly
