First off..........................Hilarious!!!  :)

I was just wondering if people experience the same thing.  I just had another fill about a week ago (LapBand, yes) and now it seems like I have to gradually work my way up throughout the day....I have to start on liquids and soft foods and then eventually later in the day, I can maybe do solids.  When I eat more solid foods earlier in the day or if I really haven't eaten much that day and then try to eat a meal, it just doesn't seem to go down as well and it takes a long time for me to eat.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Is that normal?  I am just finally feeling some restrictions in my band, so I am not real sure what normal is quite yet.

Thanks for all of your help!

Yup, perfectly normal. The way it was explained to me....When we're sleeping (horizontal) our body fluids redistribute themselves throughout our body. When we're up and active, more fluids are drawn downwards (thus swollen ankles, etc.) later in the day. The extra fluid around our bands in the morning can affect our restriction. Many docs (though not all) suggest a protein shake for breakfast for that very reason. You should be able to eat dense protein for lunch and dinner though - if you can't, you might be a bit too tight. There's a definite learning curve with our bands! Who's doing your fills for you? Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you for the response.  That is good to know!  Dr. Peter Kelly has been doing my fills up here.

This is really the first I've heard about protein shakes and things.  What are some good protein powders, where do you get them and are there any good recipes?

Thank you!

I don't use shakes much any more, but I use Body Fortress Whey Protein - found it at Target and Walmart, although, it's not on the shelves at my Target anymore.... There's lots of different brands out there though and you have to have find one you like. If you're interested, we have a great group of people with the band who meet Sunday evenings in Coon Rapids at the Starbucks just off Hwy 10 on Foley Blvd. It's a great place to meet other bandsters and get questions answered. I also go to a support group at Unity Hospital in Fridley (2nd and 4th Mondays) or sometimes I go to the Abbott support meeting on the 2nd Monday of the month. If you want more info, let me know. And ask away, if you have any more questions.
