Low Blood Sugar? & 3-month recheck

So I am wondering if the way I've been feeling lately could be low blood sugar? I have never been diabetic nor known anyone who was so I am very unaware of how blood sugar works (high or low), symptoms, and cures.

All I know is how I've been feeling lately is very light headed, especially upon standing up and even more so lately if I even turn around too fast - sudden movements, etc. I've also been more sensative than usual after meals...regardless of what I eat. Like I feel worse AFTER I eat then before being hungry.

I now have a 3-month re-check scheduled with my surgeon for next week but I am wondering what others might think before then.

I went through a time when I even passed out from bending over.  So I wonder if that's just something we all go through?  They blamed it on low blood pressure.

And I'm now hypoglycemic, was diabetic before.  I struggle to keep my blood sugar at normal some days.  You should look up hypoglycemia on line and see the symptoms.  I don't have issues with standing, sitting etc for the low blood sugar, just did for the low blood pressure.

Good luck, feel better,

I'm willing to bet it was the same feeling I've had the past few weeks.  I was never diabetic.  But there were times when I became very confused, light headed, hot, cold, weak.  I thought it was also when I was very tired.  Which is pretty much all the time.

Hypoglycemia - I thought that graham crackers were a healthy snack for me.  But when I checked my blood sugars (I work in a hospital and have access to glucose monitors), I would spike up to a 255, then two hours later drop to 44.  That' HUGE!  Since cutting them out, it hasn't happened since.  Oh, and I did stop with the breakfast bars that I had been eating, too.

I'm much further out than you are.  I work in a hospital.  I tend to be a little more "stupid" - healthcare workers make the worst patients.  You should call and ask.  Perhaps they will run some blood tests when you go in for your appointment.  Call if you are concerned.  A phone call is free.

Good luck!  If you want, let us know what they have to say.

By the time I went to bed last night the room was spinning and I felt nauseaus, so I called my surgeon's office this AM and of course he can't see me til tomorrow AM. They suggested I go see my primary physician who I will be seeing at 2:50p.m. today. I'm hoping for blood work to check sugar levels and also my blood pressure which while I've been donating plasma always seems fine according to them at least. So we'll see. But I feel drunk, is the best way I can explain it. Weak, lightheaded, tired, hard to articulate words sometimes, slow to comprehend what others are saying and hungrier than usual. I did ask a nurse about Hypoglycemia and I seem to have a lot of the symptoms.

I also read that rapid weight loss can just make you feel lightheaded, dizzy, tired and have leg cramps...so maybe 71# in 5-months is just catching up with me...I hope that's all it is.

I'll let you all know what I find out later today! Thanx for the support.

So far it seems to be low blood sugar. My blood work yesterday afternoon showed a blood sugar count of 80 and that was after eating, so doc said a fasting blood work should be just below 100! Yikes! She suggested I take some sugar pills like diabetics take 3x a day for a few days to see if it improves. So I purchased some Glucose tablets from WalGreens, so far so good. Seems weird to take sugar in a pill form when sugar has always been my culprit in weight gain.

I also have a mtg. with dietician on Monday before my 3-month re-check with surgeon to see what it is I am eating now and what I could be adding to help. I suppose I am just petrified to eat anything with tons of sugar or anything with much added sugar so not to dump. I drank a Boost High Protein shake soon after surgery not realizing the 32g of sugar and about DIED!

Hope this helps some other out there feeling the same way.
