Fantastic-   51 lbs in two months.    whoot whooot!  I know I will have doubts but like everyone on here is telling me, that is normal.  Yup, why do we need surgery to help us eat right?  Some people can do it on there own, as a matter of fact I work in a two gal office and my co-worker lost 70 lbs on her by turning into a vegitarian.  She had willpower, something I don't have.

I have heard that some have more mental issues with their choice but I for one would do it all over in a heartbeat. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.

Good for you Jennifer.  three years ago when I went to the Winona Clinic  for the first time for an ear problem, (I usually go to Mayo Clinic in Rochester) I had a Dr whom I met for the first time and she wanted to know if she should refer me to LaCrosse for WLS.  Was she telling me something I did not want to hear?  I was not ready three years ago, but now I wish I had been, 3 years younger (I am 59 now) and it'd be over with.  But, like they say, things happen for a reason so maybe now is my time.

Heidi, your post made me get all teary eyed!  Thank you for that. I'm having surgery on the 8th and I'm really nervous and just reading about your feelings and what you went through really touched my heart. That's exactly where I am. So, thanks for that ((((Heidi))))

Jan, I am also feeling a lot of what you are feeling as well. There are a few gals at my job who have had the surgery and they are my best supporters. There are always going to be people who see it as an "easy way out", but they don't know what they're talking about. And there are the people who say "Oh, that's so extreme...dangerous...etc (fill in the blank)", but they aren't you, and they don't live your life in your body so they can just suck it!   You (and me and everyone else here) are doing this for YOU, not for them. It IS a big change, but it is a GOOD change. Yes, things will be different, but GOOD different, not bad. I'm sure we will have our head hunger and hormone swings, etc., but I am so looking forward to being able to exercise again, and tie my shoes, and wipe my butt (seriously) - all of the little things that have become difficult due to my obesity, that I will do anything to get there - and that includes major abdominal surgery.

So, you go for it girl!  Keep on coming to the board. These people here - all of you - have been more inspirational to me than you will ever know. You might think your venting and stuff is just for you, but you have no idea how many people you are helping just by being here.

And now I'm all teary eyed again. Oh geez. Dontcha just love hormones!

Welcome newbie-  Thanks for your inspiration too.  If it wasn't for this board, I don't know if I'd be going through with the surgery.  I think by this time I would of chickened out.  But I keep reading all the positive comments and tell myself, 'if they can do it, so can I;.
Yes, there are risks in any surgery, but I am also putting myself at risk for having diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, bad  back, bad knees, etc.  Like the saying goes "if I'd known I was gona live this long, I'd of taken better care of myself".  But I didn't, l lived for the day so now I have meds to help me, which I want to get off of.  Good luck in your surgery and please post on how your doing after.
