Update on My 3 Resolutions

Last week I made the following 3 resolutions:

1. Made healthier food choices
2. Not eating out unless it's a planned event
3. Limit Starbucks to ONCE a day.

I just thought I would give you all a report as to how the week went.

1. I definitely improved in this area - for breakfasts I had my Vente Skinny Caramel Latte on my way to work, then worked in a hardboiled egg, some high protein toast with peanut butter. For lunches last week I had a spinach salad with walnuts, bacos, grilled chicken breasts and a light Raspberry vingerette dressing.  For snacks I chose either a cheese stick or yogurt with granola - depending on whether I was really hungry or just needed a refueling.  For dinners, I made sure that I had a starch, veggies and protein - cooking at home of course.  A friend of mine has given me more ideas for using my George Foreman so cooking is much easier now.  My toughest times was in the evening when I was by myself - I just wanted to graze.  I did a little and sometimes made not so great choices, but all in all I feel good about how things went.

2. I ate out once on the spur of the moment.  I ran through McDonalds on my way home from a lia sophia party.  I forgot to eat before hand so by the time it was done I was shakey (bad planning on my part).  So I cruised through and got a meal deal thingy and after I ate the cheeseburger I had a few fries and then threw them out the window so I wouldn't be tempted to eat more (BTW - for you greenies out there, I only threw out the fries, not the container).

3. I had one day where my Starbucks addiction got the best of me and that was Saturday.  I slept horribly and just needed an extra pick me up.  I then decided that on the weekends I could have two a day - but even though I really wanted a second one yesterday I didn't have one - so only one day with TWO - I've been making my own at work and home like a good little girl.

BTW - it just dawned on me as I was typing "Starbucks" that it is quite ironic (or maybe some person's idea of a sadistic joke that the name of my favorite coffee shop quite literally warns you about what you need when you go there and that is: "BUCKS" lots and lots of BUCKS - which is exactly what I've been giving them for 3 years!  Oh how sad!!!

The best part is that I've already reaped benefits from these small changes
I'm down 3 pounds!  YEAH!!
Now I just have 4 more to go of the 7 I've gained since my lowest after surgery and then I can keep heading towards goal!  Thank you all for your support!

God Bless,
Tracy

Great job Tracy!  As more time passes, it should get a little easier every day.  Don't beat yourself up for every little thing.  You admitted that it wasn't perfect - because who is perfect - and that you manage to still stay on track.  So often I find that if I slip once, I just give up the rest of the day and say that I will just start again tomorrow.  Not smart.  It takes a lot of courage and will power to recognize that there is a problem and you just need to jump back on and keep going.  I admire you!

So, thanks for updating on how your commitment to your life has been going.  Its good for all of us to be reminded once in a while that post WLS is a struggle.  Its not "easy" as others say it is.  Keep up the great work!

And..... Hope to see you soon!  I've been saying that for months now.  Kids are keeping me incredibly busy.  Can't make it to Stillwater because I have a wedding on Friday night.  Soon, soon, soon.
