Popcorn???

I'm wondering....do any of you eat popcorn and if so, how long did you wait to have it? I was told by my Dr.'s office, prior to surgery, that popcorn is a no-no  because the hulls can get caught up in the intestines...same with nuts. I understand the hulls, but nuts?

Anyway, some feedback on popcorn would be awesome!

Thanks all!

I'm with Linda, I waited a few months and then only ate a little bit at a time.  But I think I'd go crazy if I couldn't have it.

Good Luck!

My intestines must be full of hulls then cuz we are popcorn obsessed here. Great source of fiber, low cal. and fills that void of wanting high calorie snacks when I really "need" them. Never had a problem with it, started at about 6 months out.

I'm 5-months out and have no probleme eating popcorn or nuts. I know that my surgeon said "nay nay" to anything with husk/hulls such as corn as it could become lodged. So I think I waited a few months before trying popcorn but not have any major problems after surgery and eating a variety of foods I ate popcorn, slowly!!! I wasn't able to eat much but it was sure nice to have at the movies.

I'm like Linda - I can't imagine NOT having popcorn!

I don't remember when I first tried it, probably @ 3 months?  But I remember I chewed it to DEATH!  And I still do!  Makes it last longer, and whether or not the chewing had anything to do with it, I've never had any issue with it in my belly/intestines!  In fact, I think it helps get things moving, if ya know what I mean!  Maybe it's one of those things that - if you chew well enough, you burn more calories than you consume?  Like celery?  I don't know, just sayin'...

Just CHEW, CHEW, CHEW!!!

Never heard of the hull thing or nuts thing.  I love popcorn and have no problem with it.  Maybe my intestines are shot now...

When I make it at home I use AMISH style hull-less popcorn...it's available at Byerly's and comes in a small burlap bag.  It's some special hy-bred and it's easy to eat.

You can also buy it online here

Thanks for the tip on the Amish style popcorn. I think I'll have to run into Bylery's at coffee this weekend to get some!
Your intestines should be fine since you are treating them gently with the Hull-less popcorn!
