Hello folks I haven't been here for a while but I know several people who are here alot and was informed that folks don't think its possile to have a band no fills and lose weight. Well I'm here to tell you its true I was banded 2/5/08 and got a great band. I lost my hunger and have some restriction form day one.I can only eat 1-11/2 cups of food and I'm full . If I eat more I hurt . I will and have pb (productive burp ) If I eat to fast and or don't chew well.as of Sat.Sept. 27 I'm down a total (pre/post op)of  106 lbs Yea!!! baby that right and to date no fills. I have ask and was told by my Dr. that I'm not the only one .So to any folks who think it  not possible unless your big foot or from outter space I say  ok my shoe size is a 10 1/2 but thats not that big really!!! and I'm a little out there but not that far out.. At least thats what I tell myself!!!  I count my blessing and know I'm very , very lucky . I know it happen just not that often but It does happen and I'm proof. I wonder if and when my hunger will return I've been told It may ar may not . So I pray for not and count my blessing each day that it is.  Even with this great band I still have had issues . I was afraid to try pills for a long time cause what if they got stuck??? but I take them now just fine . I have body image issues I still see the big me not the new smaller me . I'm working on it pictures really do help so any new kids on the block reading this take pictures lots it helps in the future. And OMG when it that time of the month I have cravings like (get the hell out of the way I want meat salt or sweet and I want it 10 minutes ago ) and I may have to run you over to get it and I don't care. I had the odd craving before surgery but know Man its nuts. I also have head hunger on and off but this I can usually get around but those cravings... guy's your so lucky.." perfect" band or not I'm still living in the real world and I still have to make good choices and follw the rules.    On that note have a good day one and all and FYI I'm not sure which OH message board the topic came up so I'm posting on all of them. so you'll see this every where... But isn't that what they say about people from outter space ( there every where and yet know where to be found......?)  Nancee  banded Dr.Jeff. 2/5/08 -106lbs brooklyn center, mn

Nancee - I'm confused.
You got a band placed, but have never had it filled. Never?
How then do you have restriction?
Do you have restriction from the day it is placed?

You've lost over 100 pounds - congrats!
With that amount of weight lost, can you see or feel your port?

Hi there. see jeans post below I just wanted to add I don't know how I have restriction I just do so I'm taking the blessing and running with it. And yes it was from day one. and as jean said placement is most likely why I have no hunger.  As far as my port no you can't see it and I don't feel it some times I think I do but then I don't later so basiclly I have no clue as to where it is . If and when I see my Dr I plan to ask ( at this pace it will be at my 1 yr check up!) which is fine with me.

Amy,
I'm not sure if Nancee will get back here to see your question....so I'll answer it.
She got her band in February, but has never needed any fills. For some reason, she's got perfect restriction as it is and since she's losing weight, there's no reason to add any saline to the band. (She's our bandster that we love to hate and tell her that every opportunity!) We figure it must have something to do with the precise placement - maybe sitting at just right place on the nerve so that she doesn't feel hunger. Anyway, she's doing great and we have heard of a few others who have never had any fill added to their bands either. There's no rhyme or reason as to how many fills people need - it's a very individual thing.

pic's would be nice but I don't have a digital camera and even if I did I have no clue how to get them here. I did just get a new phone with camera and it has a usb port so I'll work on that. thanks for the support

Hi Nance
I met you a few weeks ago at Starbucks on a Sunday night, Lorri from Elk River. (I gotta get back there and get some of the PeanutButter from Mike)
Congrats on the progress you have done. I also have great restriction and I'm not scheduled until the end of Oct to get my first fill. Can I ask how many calories you are taking in daily? I'm heading down to Unity tomorrow to talk to the nutrionist. I'm eating around 900-1000 and haven't lost anything for 3 weeks. I'm thinking I should increase my calories but it is so hard when I feel full all the time.

Hi Lori at first I was only taking in 600-800 calorie a day but my weight stalled and didn't move untill I got in more calories Now I aim for 1200 a day and this seams to be working. How strange it is but if you don't get in enough calories you won't loss weight or at least not for a long time and yes it's different withRNY  there nutrition is altered as well as the amount of calories they get so its two differnt world  or at least it is for the first 1 /12 to 2 years. hope all goes or went well at unity for you. hope to see you again soon and good luck
