Friend got turned down
Mayo might have turned her down but being on MN Medicaid she has the right for an appeal. If the provider has submitted everything to the state then she would need to contact us and see if there is more information needed or if this is something that just would not be covered for your friend. Sometimes if you "pressure" the state we can and do give in. We do know that it is cheaper in the long run to approve these surgeries then to have years of medical cost related to the weight and other contributing factors. HTH
The psych evals are included in the approval process for a reason.
Though I feel for anyone who is ready to have surgery and then hits some bumps along the way, this truly is for her benefit in the long run! She will see that eventually and her surgery day will come and she no doubt will be able to look back and agree with how everything worked out.
Best wishes. Please encourage her to come to this board for support!
