Hi everyone!

I'm so sorry that I haven't been able to read or post much lately - I've been really busy with work, school, and job searching.  I can't wait to find more time to get caught up on what's happening with everyone and start trying to be supportive again.

To everyone that was at Eagan coffee on Saturday - it was nice to meet you and I think that I will be there again next Saturday.  Maureen - I won't be able to go to W. St. Paul coffee this Saturday - I forgot that I am going out of town for my nephew's birthday.  My DH had to remind me when I told him how excited that I was to be seeing you again and getting some clothes.  I'll get them from you next weekend if you're able to make it!

I bought clothes in a store for the first time last Saturday!  That was a real nice (and expensive) WOW moment.  I know I shouldn't have bought much, but I was just so excited.  I bought stuff that runs on the small side so I'm hoping that it will last for a couple of months at least.  Everything I bought was at least a size smaller than I would have thought too.  Glad I was able to try things on and see.  I'm turning out to be quite the clothes and accessories chick - DH commented on how "colorful" everything I bought was and he didn't see it as "my personality" - I told him that it always was my personality, but that really fat people's clothes only seem to come in solid colors.

One of my employees has been making frequent comments about how much more attractive I'm getting.  I'm about ready to slug him - I'm having a hard time coping with the compliments because the only part I hear is how ugly I must have been before.  Guess I'm going to have to work on that.

Again, I miss all of you and your terrific support and can't wait to get back here really soon!

Hey there!  Congrats on the clothes shopping!  Just don't go TOO nuts, 'cuz you'll only make yourself MAD for spending $$$ on things you won't get to wear very long.  Even a couple of months is doubtful at this stage of the game, but hey!  Make a game of it - mark a calendar with when you first wear things, and check it when you find they've gotten too big!

As for the compliments, it IS a head game.  We've been so down on ourselves for so long, it's hard to take a compliment the way it's meant - as a COMPLIMENT!  It takes a LOT of work to stop reading the negative into them, but you'll do yourself a mental and emotional favor if you  WORK ON THAT.  Take every compliment at face value, DON'T read between the lines, looking for the negative.  I truly believe that, for the most part, people don't INTEND that back-handed insult, they're only trying to acknowledge the changes they see in a way that pats you on the back!   Learn to smile, say "Thank you!", and mean it!  And repeat their comment in your head as many times as it takes to put a smile on your face!

I got a few unexpected compliments last Friday at a meeting, and I think for the FIRST TIME, I had a genuine SMILE on my face as I thanked them - and ya know what?  THEY SMILED BACK!   It's cool how that works!!

Nice to 'see' you're back!  Hopefully you'll be around more often.

Ain't it pathetic how our fat minds interpret things?!  If we're good lookin' now, we must've been REALLY ugly before!  How about 'you have such a pretty face'??  (Meaning the rest of us is butt-ugly!)  GEEES!

Anyhow--changing our mindsets is all part of the journey. Two steps forward, one step back...

You're doing well!
