Some People just don't get it?
My weightl loss is very rarely a topic of discussion at work. For one, I work with all men with the exception of one other woman, and i suppose it's the politically correct thing to do. It is generally just fine with me that way It is however no secret that i had WLS..
Things have been a little tense at work getting ready for a conversion. My boss decided that he should bring in a treat, big apple pie and cinnamon ice cream. He thought I could just eat the fruit, lol. Not to pat my own back (oh wait, yes I am!) i have been busting my butt and have been delegated the conversion "champion" which is a better way of saying **** rolls downhill and i got the responsibility because nobody else wanted to!
I must have given him a very evil eye about the pie, because he said what cani for you? This morning the guilt got to him and he brought be Starbucks, which I did appreciate. Well that's my story and i'm sticking to it!

Nope -- they don't get it!! So do what I do -- walk over, look over the stuff that they bring, and ask "where's my banana?" -- I get a banana from the donut and DQ treat people now -- they feel good because they've acknowledge me too -- and vice versa -- I get to join the crew.
At least he tried -- that said a lot!!!!
Don't get me started! To late the other day I was at my girlfriend house who knew I had wls because she boosted about her Jennifer friendly dishes. I asked her if her lemonade was sugar free and she said yes. So I poured a glass and started drinking when I could tell by the extreme sweetness that it was not. So I asked her again and she said I thought it was. So as I walked by the trash I noticed the empty can of regular lemonade concentrate. For crying out loud! I did not drink the rest and prayed that I didn't drink too much.
That's right...they don't get it at all sometimes! lol... but at least he bought you Starbucks... you gotta give him that.
They don't get it and neither did I before I started to research the heck out of the surgery and how a WLS person can eat. I just figure that it takes education and once they understand, they can choose to make you part of the "reward" or not. My boss still brings in donuts, but he'll include a non-frosted cake donut, which I'll take a bite in front of him and then go back to my desk and toss the rest. Sometimes, I eat it though. We just worked out tails off at work constructing a mini golf putting hole for a competition to raise funds for the Employee Giving campaign....WE WON...yep, we won a pizza party. Do I get pissed because I'm not a big pizza eater? Do I make everyone else change for me? Nope, I'll eat a little and then get something else. Remember, you can please some people some of the time, but you can't please all the people all the time. It's your journey, not their's, so give them some slack and take your focus off the food and concentrate on the commaradery.
