Neurosurgeon update

I went to see the doc today - pretty much just got home.

He's a pompous ass...  *shudder*  I won't go under a knife with him if I can help it - second opinion will be coming if I can find another surgeon in town...  I miss Himango.  The whole time I was in there he was cutting me off - shushing me - and kept asking if I was telling him the truth.  OMFG... Roger went with me (I have a really bad time understanding accents and with a name like Chang I wasn't sure what I was going to hear...)

Anyhow... He showed me the MRI that they took.  It seems I have not one but TWO sections where I have bone spurs growing into my spinal cord...  how nice..  There are no bulged disks like the neurologist said.

The last time I had one of these we didn't hesitate to operate.

This time, we are hesitating... he ordered up another 2 sets of MRIs... one brain scan and one upper body spinal scan.  He wants to see if there are any more lurking problems.  So far the yare scheduled for Oct. 1... hurry up and wait.

so that's it for the update...  *shrug*  guess we shall see what happens!

I'm sorry that you are going through this.  That doc sounds like a jerk.  I hope you can find someone else, but if not I hope his surgical skills make up for his bedside manner.

I think with as something as serious as it sounds like you're dealing with, a 2nd opinion is a must. It sucks when you don't like the doctor, and even worse when one is a shhhh-er. Patients need to talk too, sounds like a pompous one for sure!

I'm sorry that you are dealing with this.  Just remember that, like auto mechanics, we don't always have to go with the first one we meet.  Doctors are just like the rest of us.  And if you aren't happy with him, don't let him get anywhere near you with a scalpl. (?)  Trust your instincts.  And don't worry about going behind his back.  Its your body he is about to cut open.

 I am sorry you are going thru this. I pray that the Dr's get to the bottom of this and get you some releif soon!! I know back problems can really mess things up...I pray that you cna get some comfort soon!!
