Need to Know Please..
Coffee was my first meal after surgury. NOOOOOOO, you don't have to give it up. You will probably be told to not drink calorie containing beverages, so if by coffee you mean a laden cream latte, then yes, you would be more successful to give up those calories. But sugar free sweeteners, low fat options are okay. Caffiene is not forbidden by any program for the purpose of weightloss...there may be other reasons to give it up.
So, coffee is okay. We use it to chat around. Relax.
Keep in mind however, that many people experience a change in taste. For instance, you may discover you no longer like it. Or if you never did, all of a sudden you might. Everyone is different, and changes always can happen over time.
I need some coffee myself about right now....

Coffee is yummy....I'm at Caribou right now in fact, enjoying a cup!
No coffee in the beginning because of dehydration. But after you get to two or three months out, you can have caffeine coffee as long as you drink 1 ounce of water for EVERY ounce of coffee -- dehydration issue again.
No way I could survive without my coffee!!!! And decaf makes me "run" to the bathroom alot so dehydration can happen with the decaf!!!!
