I got a date with my surgeon
It has only been six months since I have been on this journey, but I am so looking forward to joining you on the loosers bench. Now that I got a date, I want to attend a coffee gathering sometime on a Saturday. Being from Winona, I am not at all familiar with the cities, so keep it simple for a SE Minnesota gal.
Also, can a few of you give me some ideas as what I should be stocking up on rather that wait until the last minute. Eating healthy is more expensive than fast foods, so I want to get a few things each pay day. I may have mentioned it before, but I learn so much from this site versus reading a book. It seems more personal on this site, things I can relate to since all of are/were in the same boat at one time or another it seems. Jan

Congrats Jan, I'll save a seat for you on the loosers bench! It's quite a journey!
I don't really have any great ideas for what you should stock up on, but I can tell you the mistake I made...I ordered some chewable calcium wafers (among other vitamins) before surgery, having the same mind set you have and I can tell you one thing: I should never have ordered 4 bottles! I am choking those things down every day. I don't care for the taste, they are HUGE and I need 5 of them a day!
So I guess I can say, buy things in small quantities you will be AMAZED at how much you will end up throwing out. I have learned that not wasting is a bigger money saver!
Hope you can make it to a coffee meeting before your surgery, it really helps
Heidi

Yep I agree with the others....Also every surgeon is different, so check with them for what foods they want you eating....Then we can help you out better....In my program I was on a liquid diet after surgery for 3-4 weeks then soft foods for a week then solids......During my LD stage I had alot of SF popscicles, and hot tea, Chicken noodle soup minus the chicken & noodles, I hated buying the broth soup it tasted horrible....
There are coffee groups that meet in Maple Grove, Eagan, South St. Paul, Little Canada, Minnetonka, Burnsville, etc......Jus****ch the boards, usually someone will post about it....
Keep us posted, and congrat's on getting your day set, Whoohoo......Make sure you take before pictures and measurements, you will be amazed on how fast it melts off......Enjoy your journey.

I am gona hit some meetings too, if I can find them. You said chicken noodle soup, is that just any brand then or do we have to watch out for the sugar content etc?
